Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Job outlook next 3 years?

I'm a software guy, thinking of trying to join the team. Basically my questions to you subject matter experts are:

Am I stupid?
Is there a high demand for developers at JPM currently?
Are there layoffs on the horizon?

The good thing generally about many LOBs in JPMC is that the business is good. So tech side doesnt have to worry about funding, broadly speaking. Its not necessarily a bad place, much depends on your specific LOB area and team.

I've been here 12 years and every 2 year my role changes, and I continue to learn new thing. Thats what I like, but there are some problems too, but those are more around our tech is dated and way too customized, so mobility outside the company is hard.

jpm is a bank that likes to think of itself as a tech company. you know, one with 250K employees and layers up layers of DMV like bureaucracy.

Id go to a tech firm to do tech, not a penny pinching bank with a spotty track record for delivery.

at jpmc it's always about how to do things cheaper this year than last year.

Is that because of too many candidates available to sift through or just unqualified? Wondering if hiring managers can chime in on what they're seeing.
