You know people on the BOD are talking about what it will cost to get Jim Whitehurst back to save the sinking of the IBM Titanic. How much would they payout? Would they get on their knees and beg for him to come back? It's the only card they have left. Tick tock...tick tock IBM.

IBM is not loosing billions today because a few years back they learned that when a division goes negative it is time to quickly jettison it even if you have to pay another company to take it off your books.
That clearly shows you the incompetence of IBM management. They can’t fix or resolve any problems. They rather close their eyes and pull on the ejection seat.
Yeah, where is JW now? Was he able to find another job? Though, I think he is probably worth at least 150 million, so with that amount of dough why work... May be he will build a chalet in Davos next to Ginni the Eagle!! LOL!!

I agree with you. I never understood what people saw in JW. From my perspective he was as useless, if not more useless, than the Executives we currently have. Good riddance.

IBM was actually sinking (in the deep negative billions) in 1992-93. What they are now us most certainly not a sinking ship more like a ship lost at Sea with elevator music playing all the time.

Doesn't exactly take a sleuth to make this observation. Anyone who joins IBM from any other modern corporation typically figures it out by the end of their first week. I've never seen anything like it personally, the sheer number of layers and overlays, it's absurd.
Jim’s not coming back He negotiated a graceful exit keeping his options. He actually saw and tried to negotiate some of IBM’s fundamental problems. He won some, and he lost some. Dumping GTS (win), Keeping Systems when Redhat runs everywhere (lost), but his biggest observation was IBM was incredibly top heavy and he wanted to cut management/band 10 and above by 50% (again lost). Thus his exit as he realized IBM can’t fundamentally turn around until you deal with the management problem
If Jim W went back to IBM, I bet many of those who have left the company would consider going back as well. As it is, not a chance. But the odds that they wake up in time are low.
They are clearly oblivious. They don’t care about what Whitehurst is doing.
What could Whitehurst do? Our issues at IBM are so pervasive and deep that there is nothing that anyone can do to stop the decline.
Nobody on the Board is saying that. As delusional and useless as they are, they know that ship has sailed. Arvind made his bid for power and good luck to him.
No shot he comes back, why would he want to jump on board the Titanic when he has his $50M from the RH purchase and can go to a company with actual growth opportunity
