On top of that, HR has wrested that role from the immediate supervisors - and now, pushed it one (N+1) level up.
So for example, it is now NOT the Section Head that determines who, among his direct-reports, should get (or not get) the promotion (from the HR-generated list), but the Department Head.
Similarly, the Division Manager decides on the promotion of Section Heads, not their respective Department Heads.

@Warren Dodds That’s how it worked last year. This year the managers receive the salary treatment from HR. We are no longer given a range like we were in the past where we decide our employee’s salary. All we do now is tell HR which employees we want to give a promotion to. HR calculates the rest.

If O is getting max 15%, I'm out of here for sure.

Managers have to make their choices by the end of October so make sure you are kissing a-s big time over the next week or so… some leave it to the last minute to collect as much data as possible before hitting the exact merit… you’ll find out in December.

O will get at least 12% at the top end 15%…

E will likely get a plump 8% maybe 10%.

Vg will be single (middle finger) digits.

Everyone else’s are likely to be zero… lucky to have a job type of deal.

If you are a G, or NI … AND are at, or above, your salary reference, you will have no increment in Jan 2022.
HR has explicitly stated that the Merit Increase “knob” will be removed.

HR provides salary information to managers. They won’t know until December how each group is effected.

In Eastern Europe we never had any meaningful benefit to start with, go figures ¯_(ツ)_/¯

In Europe, unlike America, we've not even got anything back! Count yourselves lucky.

The higher the assessment group, the better the raises. The lower 1-2 groups will likely get nothing or sub-inflation at best. Signed, Captain Obvious.

You used the word “back” five times but don’t seem to understand it’s meaning. It means that they’re giving something that they took from you previously, while they were awarding each other tens of millions in bonuses. They didn’t get their bonuses BACK, they NEVER stoped getting them.

You got your 401k matching back. You got the education coverage back.
You got the kid's dental back. You got the 50% gas discount back.
Stock is back above 60.
Now you want a raise?

All of us will get 100% more than the raises we got last year! Woo-hoo, SFA.

OP, got to set you straight.
'O' is for Or-l Only, which should never be at top.
I think of the Virtual Gully and even the Never Intended.
Let's be fair now. You need to learn the system.
'E' is for Emetic, we all know, but rarely are they tossed.
Let's be fair.
