@2dpx+1dobY2zK is correct
They are adjusting their seniority-mix / demographics-mix with stealth separations.
This is being pitched as an adjustment of skills-mix.
However, the positions these people occupy are being refilled with lower cost options and there is a system in place to disallow displaced workers from “qualifying” for open jobs online positions.

There are hundreds of people scrambling to find positions IT.
The goal is for people to get frustrated an quit on their own,
those who don’t will be declared to lack necessary skills and be terminated.

The sad part is that all the do-nothing positions seem to be protected. While the skilled contributors are being encouraged to leave. Anyone who has been around IT for any length of time knows that technology changes rapidly and you continually learn new technology stacks, new languages, new protocols, new APIs. Anyone worth a lick can pick up a manual and within a week have added a new IT skill set, it is an iterative learning process. It is disingenuous for Ford to claim that skilled IT workers can not be re-deployed to other IT areas. It is all about moving the majority of IT jobs to India.

What's next are stealth separations. You are told to move due to budget. You apply to job openings. You may or may not be interviewed. You will be told you don't qualify even though you are over qualified. After a period of time, you get something like 60 days to find something, when you don't have a new gig, you are told that your skills no longer fit the company and given the walk of shame. No layoffs to hit the news but a lot of people will be gone not by their own choice.

It's already happening. Several folks who happen to be wh*te and male in my group have be told to go find something else at Ford this week. I know, I'm one of them. Management has already hired in several agency to replace us. We are done for.

What's next? Well, that is going to shortly be the mass cutting loose of a few hundred contract employees. That way they are out the door before the holidays. They've done like clockwork after every separation pkg. before their next step of involuntaries.

@hab, maybe you should look into the unethical way that the C Level execs, BoD, and Boston Consulting Group worked together to come up with ways to target the best workers who would get substantial pensions before they hit the major milestones. Basically the sc-m that's risen to the top have proven they are untrustworthy and that any written policy or statement about Doing the Right thing is bunch of horse puckey.

they can start with all the crybabies and whiners that complain about getting or reporting their vax status. We don't need id--ts like that. Oh, its a privacy issue? Do you have a credit card? Cell phone? You have NO privacy MO--NS

VSSPs are done. Organizations with headcount reduction tasks are employing several methods to reach their numbers including moves. Some organizations without headcount reductions were not offering VSSPs and freezing moves. Voluntaries to follow? I thinks its possible, but on a smaller/limited scale, at least for this year.
