Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Bad leadership

I came from a company for which I thought had the worst leadership to this one here, a company that turns out to have even worse leadership.

Sometimes I don't understand how it is possible that there are people in leadership positions who do not care about making the company any better?

2kkv+1doA9ykX - yery good points same situation existed with middle management ever since the ^%^%^% Mikey no 1 came on board and it got worse and worse with numerous levels of middle management who didn't know their knee from their toe, didn't understand anything about clients or care, didn't know much on IT but knew how to talk a good talk but brought in their ^^%^% and inefficiencies & bureaucracy + own little empires into the company

Sal No 2 could do something to sort out issues around Middle management - slim it down and simplify processes, systems, walk the walk and meet your workers, have each manager reapplying for their job every 2 years with 360 degree feedback but he may want a quiet life - stay collect the pay and walk out at right time

Sitting on the outside now & looking back, it is weird. Sal definitely has the pedigree to turn the company around, and bringing in external hires to turn things around.

Yet the company goes backwards and the talent leaves.

Seems to me there is a vast chunk of middle management causing the problems. Whatever Sal says, they pay lip service to and continue doing their thing, whatever that thing is. The actual billable employees don't see anything changing and quit, further driving down the company overall.

What can Sal do? Well, basically fire everyone above line manager and below C-Suite. You'll loose a lot of good people that way, but you'll also cut out all the deadwood. Then try to hire back in as much talent as you can and rebuild the company.

But that won't happen.

they can't improve it, due to incompetence

many guys suiting management roles at DXC have not been selected due to their competencies. they are selected because of relationship and covering each other

i like that Mike replaced many senior roles externally, but is this sufficient (mid /lower management still there)?

I guess if you make the obscene amount of money as these execs do, it doesn't really matter if you ever find another job after getting your golden parachute. The workers end up getting a golden shower!

DXC is being managed down 'deliberately' the tricky part is outwardly pretending that all is well to protect any existing revenue streams. I was at Novell when it was managed down into obscurity after the board realised they lost the 'golden goose' - it felt the same at DXC so I resigned.

On the inside of company that is subjected to this 'siege' management it feels extremely uncomfortable, no $$$ for anything that make sense, but plenty to make it appear all is well!

Ironically, this management 'skill' is sought after and respected??? Who is going to hire a CEO with such a record of sequential revenue drops as the DXC CEO to grow a company? A board of a failing org looking to string out the inevitable, will seek execs with thick skin and low performance track records that talk a good game...
