Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

What to do other than leave?

It’s easy when your bosses are competent, but when your bosses don’t really understand your job, then it’s not easy. For two years, I was at odds between what incompetent superiors wanted and what really needed to be done on the job.

What to do in that case except leave???

I didn’t think twice when I gave notice.

I am fortunate enough to be in a role that is actually well paid for what we do. But I despise the leadership, vision, culture, and direction of this company. So what I do is fake smile and do the bare minimum I have to. Just enough to keep the bosses from bothering me but not nearly enough to be noticed and them trying to force feed me garbage about promotions and imaginary brass rings. I don't bother much with that scam. I am content to take their money every too weeks doing as little as I can with no stress and saving up every penny I can while still enjoying life. All the while I hope and pray for the day we get called into that meeting giving us our 60 days and our documentation to sign for the severance package. My state allows unemployment even with severance so that will be fun too. A nice little 6-12 months off on Uncle Sam and Big Blue. I have given 20+ years to this company worth of hard work and utmost effort before deciding to do the minimum last year when it was clear this company is heading straight into the sh!tter so I do not and will not feel bad at all when all this happens.

I was pushed out the door after 2 decades, forced into retirement. The outright fraud and corruption in auto last year was beyond what I could justify and still keep a clear conscience. I was unable to lowball claim settlements to a level that was asked of me, not how I was taught when first hired in the late 90's, not how all the in house training taught us, not how 3 weeks at tech-cor taught us. They made up the metrics that were out of reach only to eliminate those they wanted out. Such a relief when I left, a weight was lifted from my brain and my soul. Move on to something better and less corrupt. Good luck.
