My last post when I dared say Dell is not that bad as an employer as some say got heavily downvoted but here we are several weeks later and Dell once again ranked among the top ten world's best employers. Considering that Forbes uses employee surveys to determine these rankings, I'd say more people appreciate the company than don't. It's just that those that don't are louder about their dissatisfaction.

I'd love an invite for voluntary retirement now. Perhaps they should do that more than laying off people.
But there is zero evidence of agism, mass redundancies and poor outcomes.
I dunno about DELL but EMC used to be a horrible company in that regard. Everyone over fifty would receive annual invitation for retirement. At the same time EMC was ol' boys club big time, very partitioned on cliques and silos, division lines along certain ethnic groups with very questionable corporate culture, etc.. God, I do not miss that company..

I am an AE over 10 years at Dell, not in HR. I started as a services tech and worked through to where I am now, by basically becoming really good at what was valuable to the org and to my customers. Some quarters are hit, some are missed, welcome to sales.
But there is zero evidence of agism, mass redundancies and poor outcomes. You only have to look at Dell's share price and aquisitions to see it's going well.
If you dont like it, move on. If it's your manager that is making you hate it, change roles or mediate it. But if you stay positive and learn what is needed you cant find a much better place.

Not all of us, not all of us. I do agree with where you are heading though - the world (not just America) have become slaves of university degrees and corporate brands. Do not forget that the biggest driver of the human progress is the free thought, free enterprise, the freedom to choose what to think and what to do. To be a cogwheel in some corporate machinery or worship some corporate gods, rankings, scores, patents count, etc certainly does NOT help to be free and generate new ideas!
Stop worshipping companies and people. How shallow minded Americans have become.
My God HR are earning their keep.Some cr-p talk from them here.Nobody is motivated and it seems likes job cuts are coming.If you dont feel it you must be up in the rarefied atmosphere.Prove me wrong.Also if you are happy why are you on a layoff site?

That survey is fu----g hilarious. IBM on 3rd place and Samsung on 1st.. No wonder Dell is among the top contenders.

If you are an employee who is older in age you especially want to be anonymous with all of the internal magic quadrant questionnaires
That 'anon' employee survey is a scam. Word is most just rate it high for fear of retaliation.
Dell is not the worst. But it is far from being the best.
