Has anyone other than myself looked up the definition of an Exempt Salaried Manager? I found that FLSA says that if you are an Exempt Salaried Manager more than 50% of the time you should be managing one or more employees and that you should be performing duties that are exclusively managerial duties.
I know I spend at least 20 hours a week running the register, then when you add unloading and putting up truck, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping parking lots, vacuuming, planograms, BOH scans, cycle counts and quick picks and everything else that we do, we are not exempt salaried managers. We as managers are being used as cashiers just to keep the doors open not only when people call in sick but all the time because corporate keeps cutting hours. What percentage of your 45+ are you working alone??? Look up Dunkin’ Donuts class action lawsuit regarding this same topic…maybe it’s time for us to say enough is enough…
