Intel Hires Top AMD GPU Architect To Lead Xe IP Road Map

Intel confirmed to CRN that former AMD GPU architect Vineet Goel joined Intel in late September as vice president and general manager of the Xe Architecture and IP Engineering Group, which is part of the Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics Group that was formed in June. Prior to AMD, Goel was director of GPU architecture at Qualcomm, where he led architecture development on the company’s Adreno GPUs.

Didn't Qualcomm abandon developing their own GPU? Another Qualcomm failure since Dr. Murthy?

Adreno is the smartphone GPU IP, still in the Snapdragon SOC as of the 888. But that whole mobile GFX division was AMD's Imageon, sold off to QCOM back in 2009. That's why Adreno is an anagram of Radeon. Not sure how the mobile GPU expert will translate to
