Isn't it ironic that an employee who works hard is rewarded with even more work, while one who works slow is spared that extra job?
Here I am motivated in every way to work only as little as possible. Bare minimum and that's it! NS is a company of absurdity from which one should flee ASAP.

Why work? If a paycheck doesn’t motivate you then just go ahead and quit. If you just want to do the minimum you can to get by, that’s fine, most of us are like that, but it still isn’t “ironic” that employers want their employees to be busy. It’s standard procedure at most places of employment.
Why work then? I learned long ago that NS doesn't reward integrity, hard work or commitment. Which is why I invest none of that towards them!! You want to make me run a train long mileage then put me on a short turn when I get the train back home terminal? I'm marking off in my car after I get off the train and not waiting around to get volunteered to some other assignment. Minimum effort, maximum complaining. Where are the Craft Contracts BTW? I haven't had a raise in years!
No, that’s not irony. It’s completely expected that you should have work to do when you are at work. Your pace is your decision. No irony at all by any definition.
Irony would be if you accept a job offer to work and are then surprised when they don’t want to pay you to take naps or stare at your phone.
