Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Would you leave without severance pay for just a slightly better job?

Those who don’t expect it and try to keep the job seem to be laid off. On the other hand, I wish to be on the layoff list - and I am not. Though reluctantly, it looks like I’ll have to leave without severance pay even though I’ve been squeezed here for years and that’s why I wouldn’t want to simply leave it to TR.

If you are very close to retirement age just hang on and wait to get laid off, which will happen eventually, and collect your severance. If you’re in that awkward age where you are a too old to find another job but not yet old enough for retirement (someone in your mid 50’s to early 60’s - that’s quite a conundrum.
