Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Has anyone filled an exemption for the vaccine mandate, if so, how did it go?

I submitted my exemption form on 9/1/2021. On 9/12/2021 I was informed that they are reviewing exemptions as you return to work, and the status on my exemption was updated to pending employee documentation (along with an email stating there is no action required from me at this time, confusing right?) Ever since then all of the internal communications regarding the vaccine requirement have not included any mention if exemptions. Almost like they are just going to quietly forget about offering exemptions.
My reason for an exemption is because I am a nursing mother. I will not allow my employer to dictate my ability to nurse my child, nor will I get vaccinated because I will not jeopardize my son's health to satisfy the needs of this corporation.

Supreme Court has held that states and private businesses can require vaccinations. SCOTUS has upheld vaccine mandates for over a century.

@4vkq+1dgMvNdW You are very misinformed. The “mandate” is nothing more than a press release, there is no mandate on paper. Know why? The federal government cannot dictate what every business with the arbitrary “over 100 employees” has to do. You can listen to the talking heads on the television all you want but this is the truth. It’s okay to admit you’re wrong instead of fighting for falsehoods to avoid admitting you’re wrong about something.

Any other company with more than 100 employees is going to require the vax. Not sure where you all are going to work, but don't think for a hot minute you'll find another job without that mandate.

I can tell you this. Just a little over half of my department is still unvaccinated. If we haven't gotten the vax by now... I highly doubt we will by Nov 2nd - Dec 31st. I think Centene is going to lose half their work force. I know HR is having a hard time filling positions. Centene is competing for employees attention along with 1,000's of other companies that are hiring. I KNOW that their vaccine requirement is hindering their search, as statistically speaking, half of the candidates won't follow through with the hiring process once they realize the have to get the shot.

4 million people have quit their jobs since Aug that is 3% of our countries work force. Americans are either starting their own businesses, which is a good thing. Or going to work for family and friends that own their own businesses, deciding to cut expenses and having a parent stay home with the children and offering to watch other kids to bring in income. Believe it or not people are staying home and becoming day traders and have made money off of stocks/cryptos. The world is changing. People don't necessarily have to work for a company when they can start online businesses too... They need to think long and hard about denying exemptions if they want to continue being successful... Best of luck to everyone.

It is a company decision. Company is headquartered in STL, not the State of Texas.
They will let you go as you are not following the company's mandates. No severance, no unemployment. There is no non-cult oriented religion that would disallow pandemic vaccines for you unless death is their agenda. And, if you are sick enough to get absolved for actual medical reasons, you are no doubt not healthy enough to be working. Hopefully y'all are wealthy Texans !

Would the state (Texas) the employee lives in matter if the company headquarters is Missouri, soon to be South Carolina?

I filed, and they told me it was “temporarily approved”. But not really approved. Confusing. Then told me my date was Oct 18th. But in the state of Texas the governor just signed an executive order stating that no entity (any business small or large) in Texas can discriminate and ask for proof of vaccination for employment and customers. So I want to know what this company is going to do now in the state of Texas where this executive order was signed.

I filed one over a month ago. No update other than hr asking even more intrusive questions. I sent my answers and am waiting yet again to hear back.
I ultimately do not care about keeping my job. They can fire me.
