I'm not sure why nothing is being done about attrition. We are losing some (more like most) of our best to our competitors and nobody is doing anything to reverse this trend. This can keep happening only for so long before the effects are felt in the results. It's like nobody at the top is capable of looking past the next financial report.

Seagate's best left long ago...
I can't convince myself that Seagate is good, the bright future waiting ahead. For that reason, I have no idea if I'm the management, what will I say or do to convince people, who already wanted to leave, stay and contribute..
It's been going on for a while now. They don't value experience and they think they can just plug any generic engineer into any spot that has similar skills and expect the same results. It's just another failed management trend. How are JIT supply chains and single supplier strategies working out now for companies? Yes, most only look at how to rig the next financial report for maximum personal reward.
If "the best" are leaving, then you should be asking yourself why do I choose to stay. In light of what they have observed, they have decided leaving is the best course of action.
