How do you define hard work?

I have colleagues who do almost nothing. I have nothing against that, everyone here works for themselves. However, it’s pretty annoying when these people talk about themselves like they are working very, very hard. Especially when they are speaking to those who really do give their maximum. And then I wonder, maybe they really consider what they do to be some great work....... Perhaps even worse than that is when people do much more than they need to and let this company squeeze them out.

From experience in working many places it seems these companies define hard work as who can do the work for less pay. The hard workers usually get paid more and those are the ones targeted to be dismissed. It is not what most of us have been taught or believe but it is true.

They are not surfing! they are hard at work going through data basses and checking circuits, mapping, answering emails, Then the big question of the day is Where are we eating Lunch?
Then back to work reading policies, changes to procedures, memorizing manuals, answering emails, making a metric spreadsheet, filling in data, etc. using business catchwords like Scale, to scale, scalable, build to scale, scale to scale ...
Big Data

  1. Content Is King
  2. Customer Journey
  3. Deep Dive
  4. Growth Hacking
  5. Hyperlocal

According to metrics? You don’t! It’s all about perception and optics with metrics. Produced by people who don’t even do the job. Go figure!

Apparently, based on a couple guys I work with, it's getting up out of your chair, walking to your vehicle, going to lunch, then coming back to your chair to surf the net,

I worked in a group like that and we had 2 slackers, connected to one VP. It is usually caused by incompetent management and poor leadership, that person has to go and you will see instant results.
