Rail Unions Corrupt

Our Dues go to the small few at the top who take payoffs and sell members down river to stretch out their own enrichment. And when the crafts go away they move on to continue their rotten and debased political lifestyles elsewhere. Prime example is when they hold "elections" and send you a flyer to vote for their "slates" which perpetuate the corrupt regimes based on a large majority of members either drinking the Kool-Aid or not understanding who they are voting for. And usually the new crop of people running for office are the aspirational crooks who spent their time sleazing their way to top to enrich themselves based on ambition and wanting those fat envelopes from the carriers. Few and far between are honest folk and many of those are corrupted quickly away from their ideals when they see what they can gain from it all. There need to be hard rules and salary caps on top Officials to weed out the greedy aspiring politicians. Just Saying....

I definetly agree that the Unions are not as effective or strong as they used to be, but brother if you want something to change, change it. Get off your ar-e and go to the lodge meeting, get your name on the ballot, show us all how to do it. Otherwise STFU about how I take calls 24hrs a day taking time away from my family because you think you were due a ticket for something. If the union officers claimed all the monies they were entitled to your dues would be 3 or 4 times what they are now. Do I think the top VP's and the Prez are overpaid.... yes I do... but I can't do anything about that until I get there. I am working my way up, apparently on your back. So thanks for the ride.

The union guys are only looking to get off as much work as possible and make the most money doing it. If you look for the definition of parasite in the dictionary, you will see a picture of your union guys. these people are foul and deserve to be eliminated.

Yes it can be worse. But the unions are supposed to be making it better and they aren't. That is the whole problem

Hey A--hat,, if I wasn't being paid what I am I wouldn't be working for the railroad. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Don't feed me this BS about "how bad would it be without the Union" nonsense the ignorant spout off about constantly

I am sick of hearing how bad it would be without the Unions. Maybe you can admit that if it was that bad without them the railroads would have no workforce. How about that? Stop sticking up for the sellouts that send you down the river....

Then why doesn't the union represent us like they are supposed to ? Instead they let the company walk all over the contract agreements and just shrug their shoulders and say that there is nothing they can do. Why do we even pay union dues?

You make no mention of the greedy CEO's with their millions in stock options. You need look no further than any non union short line railroad to see if your working conditions, paycheck, and benefits would be better if there were no union at all. Although the unions are not perfect, without a union I can assure you that you would soon be missing more than just the union dues you'd be saving. Depending on your craft, the fact that the union holds the contract under the Railway Labor Act might be the only reason you have not been contracted out entirely.
