Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Don't celebrate just yet

I feel sorry for new employees who seem so happy to join DXC. I always wonder if I should warn them that if they don't know anybody here or are not good at a-s-kissing, they were probably brought on to even out the numbers for the next layoffs round (the younger to balance out the older.) In at least 50 percent of new hires, this turns out to be the case within a year or two.

"For many people, this is their first experience with a titanic multinational. It's not hard to see why new hires walk around with stars in their eyes (I certainly did during the first few weeks at my first multinational).

But, the stars fall away from the eyes soon enough and you start to see what it's really like at a bit multinational. Most multinationals suck; DXC is in a special class of its own."

Not always true. In my experience, US owned multinationals truly suck. DXC is exceptional in that it sucks even more than most.

European culture is very different. EU owned multinationals are very different, and genuinely look after their people, create positive cultures, and reward people far better.

Top Tip: if you want to work for a global organization, pick one where head office is in France or Germany, and avoid those based in the USA.

Don't be that person, you'll get a reputation as moaner, glass half-empty, 'been here too long' type of guy and new staff will instinctively avoid you and reach out to others to answer their questions (even if you do have the most experience).

Just leave them to find their own way.

@bud+1dawVhaK - speaking from experience at DXC - simply keep your head down, do your contractual hours, get your pay and learn if possible whilst doing the hours. Don't be a puppet and try to help your colleagues to much (you won't get thanked, colleagues just take credit for your work) or warn new hirers about this ^^^% pool of company - let people find out the mess of this company for themselves.

Don't become "that person who tells the new hires just how bad it is around here". They'll find out soon enough. Be "that person people come to for support and encouragement"; it's kinder to your heart and opens doors to other people's.
