Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Just a quick question

Who is here just because he or she failed to get a job with a competitor?

Some competitors do great things, but I have friends who face many issues there as well. I want to leave Ford, but recently I refused to go to a competitor, even though the offer was tempting, because aside from higher pay I'm looking for other things as well.

By 25 years experience I meant I have "been around the block" The competitors are far worse. Trust me. These are the end times for this country. Industry will not be able to survive another 20 years in the USA.

Not entirely sure why you had to add the “I have 25 years experience” comment. Has nothing to do with the topic.

Not every company is “super woke” like Ford. Granted, most companies are a little bit for PR reasons, but not all are as bad as F.

@uoq+1dZckW9r and others seem to be forgetting that pensions for new hires was cut-off back in 2004, so there's a huge swath of us that aren't subject to the silver handcuffs of a pension and that changes the dynamics quite a bit.

Those still growing in their career should be striving for those TA ratings, even if they're bogus in regards to actual skills. Those who want to stay here long term get the benefit of those indicating that they know how to play the game here and are willing to do so, and for those who will anticipating jumping ship later have it as a Gold Star that other companies don't know isn't about actual skills.

For anyone that hasn't figured it out yet, getting a TA ranking requires that you do your job at least competently and make both your boss and his boss look really good. On the flip side, being ranked as a poor performer requires you really screwing up and making your management chain look bad (or being part of whatever demographic is considered undesirable just before a year of anticipated cuts). Thus, it's a challenge to not just be an Achiever and get the same "merit" raise as everyone else, which is weighted to bring all of us back to the median salary.

And to tie this up to answer the question that started this thread, sure sounds like HR is fishing to get a feel of how many people are "stuck here"

I plan to take the lump sum. Most of us stayed because of the pension. plain and simple. When I first hired in yes it was great and you were proud to say you worked at Ford. The work was fun and the management back then was seasoned & competent. Now I do my job then go home. I will not go the extra mile. Not worth it. You do something great to only be rated as Met. But the chosen ones do a PowerPoint or make coffee for the boss they get Top Achiever. Sorry but eight and skate is the motto now. Yes, I was offered jobs outside of Ford and for more money. But again, that pension was the deal breaker. I wish the people behind me the best of luck. But inside five years most of them will be gone.

It’s far easier to drag the highest performers to the lowest level instead of raising the lowest to the highest, all in the name of Equity. That’s the route Ford seemsto be taking

I am a few years shy of 30 and am struggling with trying to stick it out or leave. I will most likely end up leaving in 2022 as this company is not worth compromising my health anymore. I am definitely taking the lump sum when I do so.

@xwi+1dZckW9r Exactly

This is been proven when comments get removed that are an alternative viewpoint on the homepage, the alternative viewpoint individuals get censored, and now there’s all these “rules of the road” when making comments that basically limit what you can say. It’s evident that unless it fits the narrative, you can’t say it at Ford. They definitely do not like conservatives and I feel very out of place there now. I loved this company for years and years, but no more, they make me feel so unwelcome. DEI, only if it fits the narrative

I really just want to retire at this point; hoping an offer comes in 2022. I’m just done with everything in the corporate world in general, and Ford specifically.

I’m leaving as soon as I can. Ford hates people
who can think for themselves.
