Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

The bare minimum?

I'm too tired.
Total burnout.
I would very much like to work less, but the work must be done, and in order to get it done, it is not possible to only work the bare minimum.
How do others manage to get away with doing the bare minimum, will anyone explain to me?
Please don't just tell me it's at the expense of those who are still willing to work hard.

If there is more work and can't be done in 30 - 40 hours , who cares . I get paid for 40 hours and thats the max I'll work, if DXC wants more they need to give me a pay raise that at least meets the inflation rate. 5% is the lowest raise I have received in my 48+ years working in IT. So duck DXC (replace the d with a big F)

Rats! bad description for good people.

With the WFR events over the last 5 years, The WFR survivors are the probverbial "rats in a bowl" - The working atmosphere is now a toxic unhelpful mess.

Rats! bad description for good people.

Easier to go with the flow than swim against the current. If you're tired of being wet then swim to the bank and get out.

  • " At the start it was hard because I've always tried my best but I found that not doing the work had no consequences at all, life's now a lot easier." *

This.

I guess you see the same thing in nature.
There are 20 rats in a bin. When one of them finds a way to crawl out, the other rats pull it back down again.
If any rat does escape, it's only because it stood on another rat to get out.

You are doing the work of those who have been WFR'd.

The more people who are willing to do this, the more WFR there will be.

This means that Mikey & Mary get bigger bonuses & more money.

Ask yourself why you're doing this? Mikey isn't going to increase the value of your package. He's taken your bonus away (if you had one). He's give a few insulting pay rises. You've had no training. Promotions don't happen. The longer you stay, the worse off you become.

When you feel like this, it's time to get out. When I failed to get WFR for the 3rd time, I just put my notice in - without anything else arrange to go to. I also landed my new role while I was working my notice, and am now working for a far better employer. My new role is a bit dull, but at least it's not DXC.

You need to take advise given here and chill out. Google micro-dosing. If you are lucky you are in a state that permits cbd. Take it, chill out. If you can't go to psychiatrist and get prozac or similar. Tell them you are sui-idal, and going to blow your brains out in the dumpster.

@1baj+1dYEDZUS all true, in addition if you want to leave asap - Insult and show up your line manager as possible, he will get p%^%^ off, bully you and push you out of the door.

If you want to stay - do little as possible, do minimum amount of hours 9-5, talk talk as mike does, do little as much as possible, kiss a%%% upwards and offload your work to your fellow co-workers and If anything goes wrong blame your co-workers.

No, no, no - you're doing it all wrong - try these top tips.
Over 12 months, ensure that you do the following

  • - take your full holiday allowance
  • - take extra time off for being "ill" - 2 stints of 3 days only is enough
  • - take extra time off for "personal reasons" (one afternoon each month should be OK ( doctors/dentists etc)
  • - Seek opportunities and lobby for training - push hard for it. While you are training, someone else is doing the real work
  • - Seek opportunities and lobby for jollies / customer visits / computer fairs etc
  • - Break your laptop every 18 months (throw it down stairs). You will get the latest laptop (better thanyour peers) and you can waste 2 weeks catching up
  • - On your assignments, never, ever, ever take personal ownership of delivery. Always look for ways to get out of doing any hard work.
  • - Always refuse difficult work
  • - Always try to shift your work to others - THIS MARKS YOU OUT AS A CAPABLE MANAGER
  • - Work out when go-live or delivery really is going to happen and take your holidays at the critical time. The trick here is run the WBS down doing as little as possible. At delivery time, your temporary replacement has to complete the work yesterday and he/she is bound to fail looking bad
  • - Most important of all - don't give a sh%t .
  • - Remember that you'll never get a decent payrise in DXC ever. Working hard is for fools.

Ask yourself why you're having to do so much work:

  1. If its because you are doing something someone else should be doing
  2. If its because you've taken on the responsibilities of others who have left
  3. If its because your boss isn't making decisions or not replacing staff.

Just stop taking on other people's responsibility you're only compensating for bad management at your own expense. Just say no.

I was like you and tried to do the best for everyone but got tired of seeing the people who talk a lot but do no work get the bonuses and pay rises. So I stopped doing what others should be doing. At the start it was hard because I've always tried my best but I found that not doing the work had no consequences at all, life's now a lot easier.

The only thing DXC has taught is "the bare legal minimum" is all they are interested in. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.
So turn up do your hours and that's it, no more, no less. As soon as you turn off your PC forget DXC even exists, they've already forgotten about you.
And most importantly whatever you do, do not install work email or teams on your personal mobile phone. That way when you turn off your PC that's it, your free of DXC until the next working day.
