Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Why are ExxonMobil LinkedIn posts so cringe worthy?

Whether these are posts from the public affairs, high Executives, managers, or worthless employees, they all seem fake, dishonest and desperate cheap attempts of self-promotion.

Is there a judgement day for ExxonMobil and LinkedIn frauds?

If you browse LI frequently, you probably have seen some leaders in the chemical industry that really outstanding...for example Jim Fitterling (Dow Chemical) and Ilham Kadri (Solvay)...however I didn't see any of our leaders are really outstanding where they have many followers from the industry...any one that you can think of?

Trending on LI now...employees/managers taking selfie in front of the new Budapest GBC office....while it is good for Hungarian employees, for Brussels employees it is a sign that the future is no longer there...

Haha! I too think it is a joke! A very funny one at that. I was happy to voluntarily leave my """""sweet""""'" XOM gig.

And not to forget all the minions that will "Like" all the posts by the leadership. Some of them complaint about the company, but when it came to leadership post, they are the first to like because they need badly the self-promotion.

Slightly Cringe worthy is posting one’s own promotion announcement on LinkedIn.

Humble leaders quietly update their profiles with no fanfare. LinkedIn will take care of the announcement anyways.

Fortunately some authentic leaders are still out there that see through the shameless promotion… I cringe when some of our so-called leaders talk about “my team” and use “I” frequently.

Funny enough those that promote themselves shamelessly are those in RTD, Procurement, or EMIT-bourne roles…

The one with the child on the cube was over the top stupidity. She used to be a fashion blogger before being upgraded from contractor to employee.
The only thing she’s learned is to blow hard like the best of sycophants.
It takes na--d ambition and shamelessness to outdo LD or the Grit “winner” or woke MD or even that Stanford-mba dummie who never will be a real leader anywhere except probably back in Bangalore, but there is a line of new hires ready emulate the worst.

Back to OP's ultimate question.

There will be a judgement day, but unfortunately the narcissists and self-promoters will be the winners.
They are weaponized hi--------s.

And if you look at leadership posts, you will notice that they use a lot of 'I' instead of 'We'..just stating the obvious....can't stand a post from a female executive who brag about her contribution to Prague GBC back in 2008 and 2019....and proud of their accomplishment etc...that was so yesterday!

Tell me about it. The worse ones I seen come from LD.

the worst was a new hire posting a cube picture “because everyone else was doing it”

like does he think it’s a joke? does he think people are happily leaving their sweet Exxon gig voluntarily?

ugh. these psychopaths have to find a way to feel insulted when people who are being forced out of their jobs are announcing on linkedin (which btw is a veiled attempt to ask for job opportunities)

Self-promotion inside and outside of the company..trying very hard to win the people choice award...but I am sure managers will love it when they see that kind of posts...fakers only breed fakers...

Oh my my for the cringeworthy UIS RTD sl--e ball who is always self promoting through his worthless online degree. When will we punish people for calling themselves a leader when all they are mere thieves.

OP, you answered your own question. Cringeworthy self promotion is how you become an EM exec in the first place.

Judgment day is coming too... Do you really think EM can survive the energy transition?

Management clearly doesn't, which is why they're transparently stripping all the value from this company while they still can.

Me too. I found the one that is so thankful for celebrating 4th anniversary so odd as well. And it was a really long post.

I found the one with the employee's child standing in front of the cube quite odd. I guess people thinks that what it takes to get a promotion these days
