Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

It's not good to stay here very long

Even if you are quite satisfied and feel safe (as much as possible), it is not good to stay here for more than two years. Otherwise, this is a place where you will slowly become less marketable because your skills will atrophy. I am talking from the experience of my colleague who finally managed to get a new job and now says that it is really hard for him because he has to quickly upgrade his skillset.

I second the comment about abuse. Everything is top down and frustrated redundant managers of managers create a conduit for this abusive culture.

I made the jump off that sinking ship a little while back. Because of the toxic work environment at Dell, my new position has been relatively easy. I did have to catch up on the new tech, but I am doing okay there. You do not know how sick the Dell culture is until you get out. I was abused, targeted, harassed and attacked by weak managers and insecure engineers. In the end, I outlasted all of them, reclaimed my reputation and then found another job. It is a great thing when the company you work for treats you as a human.

Unless you have only a couple of years left, get out of that cesspool. The mental health toll is not worth it. Dell is a horrible place to work.

Yeah!! Well said dude! But "turds", not "tards"..

Dell is for tards with a community college or HS diplomas that can't even get an interview at Google or Amazon Web Services.

Yea it was tough to move to Nvidia few years ago, but curtesy of RSUs 600k+ annual income is way better than rotting in former EMC.

The severance is far from super. Quite poor actually.

If you have limited or no tech experience and good at playing the game this place is good for you.

If played right you'll do nothing except master office politics and learn how to backstab and be a bitter person towards coworkers and in 5 plus year you'll either be a top dog manager or you'll get laid off with a super severance package.

Dell is for tards with a community college or HS diplomas that can't even get an interview at Google or Amazon Web Services. The managers are deplorable. Your "career" will be nonexistent. You will have no marketable skills or relevant experience. Dell will vanquish your soul. Run, run from this he-l ho-e.

Dell is a professional graveyard, they will bleed you dry and sp-t you out. You end up firefighting 24/7 and all the credit goes to your manager or manager's manager, not to you. You get a bad performance review with phoney 'space for improvement' excuses and bonus reduction. One day they will get rid of you and you'll find yourself struggling to get a job with outdated skills, absence of any marketable experience and very likely mental health issues. All this happened to me. To all those considering joining or staying on at dell, run before its too late.
