Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

It's about pay

As usual Mike's not listening.

The highest voted questions were all relating to renumeration/pay yet he kept trying to say that's not the reason people are leaving.

He knows it's the reason because he pays more to get external recruits. So his fully aware his underpaying the current staff.

He totally ignored the massive rise in costs people are facing especially in virtual first where they have to provide all fuel (gas, heating, electricity) and resources (workspace, internet).

For Christmas bonus he got round that by saying not everyone celebrates it. So why will they send lots of thank you and happy holidays emails, just send them in April or August instead.

As for pay reviews he passed it on to the $5million Mary whose still building a structure for jobs then there maybe a chance of reviews. She has been saying that for a year and no progress so far, the pay review was delayed last year, so on past performance this structure will take 5 years to develop. So the excuse is worn thin.

And at the end "folks if there are issues contact me or the management team direct". Whats the point, the folks spoke so resoundingly "its about pay" why don't you listen?

These guys on millions and they complain about junior staff asking for a bonus/rises during these expensive inflationary times, I can't believe their cheek.

They want people to leave if they are not happy, good on them, My cv is polished and I'm out of here in the new year, plenty of openings for good staff.

So when you have lost all your good staff in the new year, and replaced them with more expensive outsiders who can't deliver see what the clients do!!!

It's amazing that so highly paid execs have buried there heads in the sand for so long, and think Mary can come up with a plan or has the answers 😄

Hey folks when your are in the club like Mike, Merry, and vinny money doesn't matter.

So it does feel like money, money, money when you guys on the ground keep asking for more.

From Mike's point of view- "We're only on $21million, and poor merry and vinny they only get $5million each."

Think about them when your shopping for food, how does merry and vinnys families survive on small budgets, the cuts they have to go through, they have to do without foods.

You lot on $40k want more more more......

They will never understand the real life.

Why do people keep wasting time watching the Town Halls? Do you really expect the message to suddenly change and be told that we (Mike & co.) just had an awakening and realize our employees are our greatest asset, and we are giving all of our employees substantial pay raises to make up for years of nothing.

Pi---d me off with the "Money Money Money" comment in the last town hall. I'm thinking yeah, it's real easy to be dismissive of people's money worries when you're sat on a big a-s pile of it.

I can't speak for everyone but my concern is that of paying the Bills and feeding the family with the cost of living skyrocketing! Not just adding to my scrooge McDuck cash pool. Clearly doesn't give a rat's a-s about anyone. We are just numbers!!

All I got from the townhall was... Don't leave your house and be grateful; peasants!!

@1nhc+1dS7oj01: Given the changes from Lawrie to Sal, what makes you think the next CEO would be any better? Imagine, for example, how a Jack Welch of today might decide to manage DXC.

Two things, good post @kvt+1dS7oj01 spot on.

And if you watched Thursday's town hall you know we've all been so silly, the solution to all our problems is DXC Time!??
Seriously WTF was our glorious leader thinking answering a question about "hiring new resources at higher salaries than existing staff" by saying DXC Time was the answer.
I can't work out if he's actually stupid or just pretending to be so

Ok, Mike, it’s not about pay.

So, what is it about?

Maybe, it’s the toxic culture of endless layoffs, endless losses, endlessly angry clients? Clients who’re angry because you can’t deliver when your team has been destroyed by layoffs.

Maybe it’s the lack of any form of training, development, or promotion prospects?

Maybe it’s seeing the executive team taking huge compensation packages whilst cancelling all bonuses for almost all staff?

Maybe pay is a factor (hey Mikey, here’s a hint: the cost of living goes up over time)?

Of course, in reality all of the above factors apply. When you add them all up then leaving becomes the best choice you can make. And Mikey will be happy to see you go.

gpr+1dS7oj01 - Sad, but true. I am no longer with DXC, having been part of a business segment that was sold off. However, I never expected to receive another pay raise, as long as I WAS still with DXC. I am approaching retirement and any increase in salary wouldn’t have mattered much anyway for a short period of time. I imagine that DXC management is well aware of the level of employee unhappiness about salaries. Simply put: They do not care and never will. For your own sake, either leave DXC or resign yourself to that fact.

Mike's response is clear as daylight - to smoke you out by creating an atmosphere where you're forced to work from home indefinitely, reduce monetary incentives to zero, outsource company building utilities to your own home (hence ever increasing personal costs), forbid team building activities, and absolve the company from providing the means to upgrade the skills of its professionals. As a result, attrition rate is skyrocketing, and that's exactly according to this leadership's plan.

Leadership is waging a war against those whom have been with the company for 10, 15, 20 years. They want those people out as fast as possible, and as soon as possible because they firmly believe they are holding the company back. Mike wants a new DXC, he said. That includes not only getting rid of the previous leadership team, but its employees as well. Then, he will fill the vacancies with people whom aren't institutionalized. Even if that means paying premium rates to contractors to secure the business.

Pay increases are underway, alright. Just not for you. It's for those who enjoy management support, or the new hires. This is only the beginning of it all. Coming 2022, it is only to get much, much worse. You were better off under mike1; he paid you to leave.

I do worry that too many 'bleating' posts encourage some to stay put in the hope of a good result - which is not coming!

There are chances for employees to improve their lot, especially over 50's long term! Imagine moving employers - if only to receive that 5 - 7 year update to comp plans (or possibly more). For those considering retirement, imagine that comp update + 5 - 6 additional years of larger pension contributions...? It is out there for many that can leave the victim psychology behind?

We all, know the score at DXC including ex-employees like me. The only way to 'stick it to em' is leave, there is no redemption coming, no change of heart. DXC execs are taking the mickey, so f-ck them over and pump up the attrition rate...

If you are thinking "it's easy for you to say..." No, it is not! It took me close to 30 months to get the current role. I got that significant jump in compensation + a little more and I'm closer to 60 than 55..

So more posts to the positive please 😌 help those that need a hand to jump, sooner than than encouraging anyone to sit tight.

I say Duck (replace the D with an F) Mike S, the company policy is a joke,

What company pre-buys hundreds of pieces of hardware that it can't deploy, then does it again and again. Forcing us the accounts to take this cr-p that doesn't match our requirements and we have to somehow make a profit on this expensive cr-p.

Only gave some of us a 5% raise with inflation at 18%+ from our last increase. We don't get FREE stock in the company, that we can sell like the executives just did. See https://csc.gcs-web.com/sec-filings

For me I have 2.5 years left before I reach full retirement age and will stick it out for as long as I can stomach the BS. Then I am gone!

@kvt+1dS7oj01 - this is a good post and totally correct - unfortunately the people at the ground unlikely to receive any increase in $ - just a meaningless thank you email from the CEO and regional heads at the top... Nothing changes at this company.

Not paying current employees market rates, but paying new hires substantially more, is not unique to this company or the IT industry. It's the same with nursing and other jobs requiring people to keep up-to-date with their job skills. Experience and expertise is not appreciated or wanted any more. It's a primary reason why many people keep switching employers every few years. It's the only way to get paid fairly. Salvino needs to wake up. Employees were screwed over by CSC, EDS, HP, HPE and now this company over compensation. Most of us who have been around for a few decades or more are probably undercompensated by 33% or more.
