Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Out of control?

Every week another one of my colleagues resigns. This looks like it will very soon become a completely different company, with completely different people.

I think that up to a certain point it worked to management's advantage that people are leaving on their own, but more and more I think that attrition is now out of their control?

It's a dead business. Just like newspapers or the yellow pages. Will it go away completely in our lifetime? No. Will it ever be like it used to be? No. Anyone who decides to stay is either lazy, has no confidence or is just plain d-mb.

Despite what every Pearson's employee's Linkedin profile says, learning is NOT fun. It's a pain in the a$$. And no one wants to pay for it.

Publishing used to be its own little insular market. Regular market forces did not apply to it. The internet changed all of that.

Your students hate you. Your professors use you. And your company cant wait to get rid of you and replace you with automation.

Pearson is a complete dump. If you are not leaving — or at least searching, you belong at Pearson where there is no life, no hope, and no brains.
