Thread regarding IBM layoffs

ibm is tier 5+ company, higher tier# = worse

Tier 1: all fang plus some other high paying companies like pintrest and unicorn startups

Tier2: uber, lyft, msft etc. Pay a little lesser but companies are growing and relevant tech wise.

Tier3: tech companies like cisco, orcl, intel, amd etc. Where pay is lesser but they're still predominantly tech companies

Tier4: consulting companies like accenture,

Tier5 and below: ibm (don't know what they're doing, can't compete in any new technology, cant even compete with consulting firms.
No emphasis on developing anything inhouse. Just thinking about next quarter.

IBM is no longer a major player. They no longer “build”, so no one is coming!!!

@1jao+1dMqe8sU if the less talented ones are leaving then what does it say about the ones who stay back?🤔

I'm here to commiserate with you. I'm at HPE. It's the same story over here - a once great tech company becoming less relevant by the day. I was considering applying for a position at Red Hat. That seems like a no go.

Ibm managers are still very arrogant though and they dgaf if there are not enough people to do the job.

Ibm doesn't want to pay market rates for any developers which means they don't care about their products either.

Even the less-talented people are leaving.

@auu+1dMqe8sU - I don't think it will take 5 years. Look at the mass exodus of talent -- it's already irrelevant.

IBM is being milked for short term profits and is being driven into the ground. It will not exist as a major player in 5 years or less.
