A manager was nice to me then I was transferred and he acts like a total pr--k to me now.

I had a manager that would not speak to a yone that was not her CL or higher...not even a reply to a good morning as you passed them in the hallway. Shameful, but great lesson for how to not inspire, motivate and lead. So, don't let it refect on you. Just keep saying kind things and doing it your way.

I have treated people the opposite. Maintaining distance and keeping professional while people report to me then after they report to someone else I can relax and joke and have more normal friendships.

If people treat you worse after you transfer out from under them- they are absolute total as----e and were never your friend.

EM does not have a monopoly on this behavior. I’ve seen this in many other companies. If you not on the way up or even worse made redundant, you become toxic even with the people you thought were your friends, it might be worse in Exxon Mobil since many have never experienced a big downturn. And there seems to be a certain group that have no friends or relationships outside the company. Look at all the people that have jumped from assignment to assignment and their whole social world evolves around fellow employees and their families.

Focus on your families. No one on their death bed wishes they had spent more time at work.

If you come to work to make friends, that’s a sad place you are in…

Auntie Em was a fine looking lady before ending up on Uncle Henry’s farm. Dorothy knew this and dreamed of leaving the farm for Oz.
There is no question of Dorothy’s love for her aunt and throughout her dream was a desire to return to the farm.
I have that desire after searching all the rest and finding I left the best.

Stop stressing about XOM- just save and prepare for the worst. Either you leave or they force you to leave

There are a lot of fake managers in the company...just look at LinkedIn...all of sudden many managers are active posts on social media....showing how much they care about employees etc....you don't have to post it on social media...just act! it is all about optics in this company....pretend as much as you want...but once the worker bee unite and start to voice out openly (especially in this forum) - you will see the outcoming....

A lot of fair-weather friends at XOM. Infact, only 8% of them are non fair-weather friends and hence they become target of others.
