Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Underpaid through inflation

There are many reasons to leave NS, but what is happening now has definitely encouraged me to look for something new more actively.
I don’t know many people in competing companies whom I can ask but does anyone know of a company in the industry that gave raises to its employees due to inflation?

Anxiety, like when I go to Walmart and see a white SUV pull up I get all panicked, can't breath, it basically causes me to become immobile. Freezing up in the parking lot not very safe. I am afraid of the equipment derailing next to me and taking me out. The lack of maintenance is causing me anxiety. The anxiety of wondering what brilliant plan they'll implement next and how it'll affect me. The anxiety of will I have a job. I'd say there is a case for disability there

What qualifies for a disability after 20 years? I’m stressed out my back hurts like crazy and I don’t sleep well these days due to the stress this place causes me. I have 24 years.

Be smart. If you have 20 years then go out on disability. I did and make as much without paying those useless union dues. They have NEVER did anything for anyone but themselves. Of course everyone being for themselves and backstabbing has made their job so easy. Quit being a follower and tell ns and the union to go fu-k themselves

I'm here to tell you folks, you don't want a contract under this pitiful administration. It will be mich worse than you have it now.

At least 6 more an hour if not more. Insurance next time will likely take a big hike.

Can’t say as I do. However, you are stuck with contracts for several years that could be negotiated during low inflation. In the real world your wages are typically reviewed and adjusted yearly. I would just figure on stagnant wages at the rr. Health care will eat up any increase they may give. Another reason in the long list to get out.
