Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Investing in people

Written on our website:

chevron offers continued education and training programs to help you cultivate your skills and expand your career. (...) Chevron training and development programs begin on your first day and continue throughout your career.

Why don’t I have that feeling and think the company should definitely invest more in people? They shut their eyes to struggles of new employees who leave this place frustrated because they fail to figure out how to actually do their job or what is expected of them.

I got my MBA on Chevron's dime. I wouldn't mind getting MS from MIT thru the digital scholars program too.

I recently just joined and I would love to have CVX pay for my MBA.. is that still possible or have they stopped doing that? How can I go about enrolling in that??

The only training CVX is interested in is compliance training. They used to invest in job training but that’s long gone.

Training is up to you and often nearly unlimited budget. Anyone can get CVX to pay for an MBA, then get a real job elsewhere.

only for consistent performers and depends on BU budget

Well I can’t say that’s a lie but as Facebook would put it’s. That’s statement is not 100% correct.

Chevron gave up on training in 2015 with the price collapse. MW believes nobody should be trained because that costs money (which instead can go to the dividend), and besides, why train when you can just hire more naive college graduates? Horizons is a joke. On the job training is hit or miss (mostly miss). Thus is the state of Chevron’s “investing in people”.

I agree with this.. the only thing I know about investing into its people is only paying a percentage of cert fees. I think its in the high 70's
