Any more hearsay on Agency cuts and which departments?

@3nnc+1dIpdIHz - thanks for the call out that there are openings over there. I think doing some actual software engineering instead of the boring biz support circus that is ITO would be quite satisfying.
In VESC (part of PD not IT….responsible for the actual software that drives the vehicle - not installing word on your PC ) I know at least 2 agency not cut….makes sense….this area is hiring if you have the right skills….
The healthcare thing had to happen. Been capped since 06' so they are just pushing that end of it off to a 3rd/4rth party including the exchange. This has been in the works for several years since they moved open enrollment to coincide to the enrollment period for Open Market (ACA). Still offering $500 each for employee/(spouse) and a stipend for the kiddies so it's better than a sharp stick in the eye. Throw in the Covid relief and most couples will get a $300 (minimum) credit from good ole Un___ _am.
Agency thing typically happens prior to the T - Day holiday and settles down until spring if anything were to occur for the direct hires.
They have already attacked the retirees with ridiculous health insurance cuts, they're cutting agency and contractors now, who do you think is next?
Yeah if we do get into a bidding war over oil and lines at the pumps come into play it could put a world of hurt on the economy. Throw in some unstoppable inflation and we could see some dark days ahead.
"From what I've seen, all or most agency in PD has been let go"
Even in the Design Studios - Corporate Design?

We are fast approaching a Global Recession aikin to circa 1975'.
Prices for diesel fuel, propane, heating oil and gasoline are set to skyrocket and that will be the least of our problems as I believe we passed a tipping point as far as supply and demand for fossil fuels is concerned. Big banks stopped financing investment in Big Oil years ago and we are about to realize the effects of this shortly.
Lines for gasoline at the pump are just around the corner.
Well if you stay in this business long enough you see it all. I agree with the comment about management coming out to tell the truth. Notice management used vs leadership. I am sorry but the current senior management do not demonstrate Leadership skill or traits. They are yes men.
On one hand you downsize NA to only staff and promote people down in Mexico in the same commodity..
Same BS you pulled with the UAW build in Mexico ship back to US and sell it as a American Company. Sorry My next purchase will not be a Ford Product.
If the legend in his own mind who thinks he is a car guy had a pair he would just come out and tell the troops what is going on! Instead of hiding and telling the public how great things are. Selling out MACH E AT 65K volume. Lets see that is pretty much an all new vehicle ! What is the ROI on that one 100years? Well keep spinning the Goebbels press machine. Sooner or later that stock will dive again.
I wish the leadership would just be honest and transparent. All this dancing around. First we hear Farley is a wunderkid and Ford is rocking it, then Farley himself tells us things are dire in his latest all hands. So which is it? It is almost like he is telegraphing a headcount cut. He quickly moved into the category of you Can’t believe a word he says.
The plans of Anthony Lo will start taking effect in Q1/22. Product Design will get reshuffled. He stated he wants to make PD stronger, so I don't see how layoffs will help, however, you never miss out on the opportunity to cull the herd. Being Purchased Services, I'm a little on edge, but the word on the street is if you are still standing on Monday, you are good for 2022.
Yes cuts typically happen just before Thanksgiving and calm down for the end of the year.
I spent many years watching that unfold in product development. Most if not all were agency.
A number of IT were told to find a new spot by Thanksgiving and have been unable to find a spot. So something will be happening soon. It is almost by design that after you train your Indian replacement that you are “unqualified” for any other IT position.
@1jtw+1dIpdIHz I heard last week rumors about "punishing" the contractors that didn't report their vax status with termination. I don't think that's the case, because one of my coworkers didn't report the status and he is still here. BTW, there are others contractors that reported as unvaxxed, and they also are still working.
Maybe these cuts were programmed weeks ago, before the mandate. I wish management would be more transparent with us, but they like to rule by fear.
My understanding is unvaxxed agency were let go Friday.
I am not hearing anything within IT.
I doubt it is an across the board event. I have been agency at Ford for many years. It is common for IT and Engineering cuts at year end. Sad but at least those skill sets have good chances of finding another well paying job quickly.
A friend of mine who works in Body Exterior said his group got hit pretty bad (he knows of at least 4 people who got let go suddenly Friday).
I am pretty sure it was across board..
Any other departments?
All of Transmission's agency were cut on Friday.
No hearsay, Transmission had more than 30 cuts.
