Cobra challenges anyone?

I received notification for open enrollment for cobra this year on November 1st. The benefits website was down that day so I logged on again on the 2nd. It was down then also. I called the benefits support line and was told their systems were down also but that I had until 12 noon EST that same day to make my elections or they were process for 2022 under the same plan as 2021. He could also not give me a quote for 2022 that day because their systems were down. Now I am stuck with the same benefits for 2022 as I had in 2021 and I had full intention of changing them during the enrollment. I’ve also tried to send an email via the benefits site and it will not accept the email in the form they provide. Has anyone else experienced this? I received no email about enrollment and only one postcard that arrived the day before enrollment closed.

Contact the benefit center and tell them you want this escalated. I had a similar thing happen last year on something similar and I demanded it to be escalated since it was not my fault. After being put on hold forever, I was sent paperwork to plead my case and it was eventually approved.

When I looked into Cobra a few years ago, it seems more expensive to me than enrolling in the marketplace. Check your state's marketplace before you decide to go with cobra.
