There will be super cheap Chinese cars in 5 years. Might be some "free" cars after US rebate. Some look like glorified golf carts that can meet crash requirements.

I think it would take a perfect storm for the Chinese to repeat what the Japanese did with small cars in the 1980's. Gas prices would have to be $5/gallon, Chinese batteries would have to be best in class, Consumer Reports and JD Powers would have to give the vehicles top marks, and the vehicles would have to have bargain prices around $25k

Really unlikely but not impossible

Munro likes to hear himself speak.
Lots of points to contest.
Telsa did have issues getting their custom chips built by Samsung due to Covid. They were able to get around it by making changes to their software which allowed them to use other available chips. Other companies also followed Tesla' lead to reduce some of the impact on their operations.

BTW, chips application is not based on size.

BEV's are not unique and can be made by company wishing to do so. The Chinese do not have a lock on the BEV market. What differentiates BEV is their operating software.
All the other components are the same.

Regarding the Hertz situation, Farley spoke about it at a recent Ford + town hall. He spoke to Fields before and after the announcement. He said that he was disappointed but understood the decisions.

These guys rolled over and didn't challenge this guy on any statements.
