Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

How long do you think it will be before Union Pacific starts offering hiring bonuses?

I remember back in 2017 some of the hiring bonuses for the mechanical department were $15,000-$20,000. Some fast food places are offering $1000 in my area. Just wonder if a hiring bonus would encourage someone to join the U.P. even with all of the negative reviews and layoffs.

I was hired last time with the sign on bonus, got part of it, was laid off, dropped off roster for not having 3 years, and they didn't pay out the rest. I was told I have to reapply, come back to work, then I would get the rest. Some of the people hired on didn't get any of the bonus at all, they were laid off before they got any of it. I just hope the unions get something in writing that if you're laid off you still get the cash.

Bonuses? Are you smoking dope? Train crew will be lucky to get a contract without losing brakeman/conductor position because of what the last clowns FRA chief did.

Batory said he was ok with 1 person crews and autonomous trains, so while John Deere workers are getting a 20% raise with an $8500 bonus, train crews will be getting it facedown, dry, and managers insurance, which has $6,000 deductible per person, and then 80/20 after that.

There is no putting the genie back in the bottle, and if in 2024 the anti worker party gets back in, our jobs are gone, and the yards will be subbed out to rat operations everywhere.

The amount of damage that the previous bunch of clowns did with sweeping deregulations has allowed train lengths to balloon, and way fewer crews doing way more work.

As one representative said, "trump allowed the jackals of wall street to take over the class 1 railroads" and no truer words were ever spoken.

I'm sure the hiring bonuses will have to be approved by the investors first. Then if they do get approved, some probably won't be around long enough to collect on it. So why offer hiring bonuses? Oh that's right, because the UP is so bad that even the worst of society won't apply.

I think if they start offering a hiring bonus, then that would be probably the greatest sign of their failure. I don't think the bonuses will happen for just that reason. What they need to do is focus on ways to keep what employees they have left. Stopping the micro-managing, stop the threats of termination, shake up the lower management, or just get rid of them altogether. They don't need dozens of managers at every level to tell one person how to do their job. Leave the workers alone and let them do the job they were hired to do.

Do you realize how many of those hired NEVER saw a dime of those "Bonuses"???!!! U.P. lied to them and laid them off anyway. No one can trust this company and should not apply!!
