Same for Ginni. The idea is to always put someone below you who isn't as smart as you. In Ginni's case, it was a d-mb and d-mber situation. Jim W. saw it and exited stage left.
It's relative, it all depends on what plans are hatched on the board meetings. There are all kinds of CEO and if you need someone to do a hatchet job, the board will find one such psychopath.
What is important is that Wall Street commands and the CEO obeys. The rest is opinion.
He's like the recent leaders since Palmisano (himself included), an egotistical navel-gazing IBM lifer, who lost track of the market and is governed by the IBM internal measures of success.
There's nothing redeeming about AK. He IS the epitome of the old IBM acronym "Itty Bitty Minds."
