Seriously, you people are the lamest crop of designers in Mattels history. My sons went to Target the other day and everything they wanted was from spinmaster or hasbro (he-man was either lame or looked like an "old toy"). My daughter was circling items in the amazon gift guide, not a single mattel toy was marked off. I'm glad the clowns running this circus can cook the books and fool the dullards who invest in this pitiful stock. This company needs another massive layoff and whomever is educating these kids in toy design needs to be fired or screen their students better before accepting another DNA deficient designer into their ranks.

yes cool dinosaur toys are evergreen but does it need to be a licensed brand? we used to make products only our own moniker and make huge profits without sharing the wealth.
the otis toy design program has become a complete joke. they hired jc (who has had a long history of being a laid-off marketer) as the chair of the department. she may be a decent administrator (who knows) but has ZERO experience with designing (or even marketing) hit toys. and who does mattel recruit from? otis! lmao get ready...the jc-trained designers are going to be even worse than the recent interns/hires
You guy's think the Jurassic Park license is played out? I feel like cool dinosaur toys are pretty evergreen, which means you can still maintain in-store listings even during the years in between theatrical releases.
It's a shame that Mattel has still held onto and is paying a royalty on anything Jurrasic Park related. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to licensing. Maybe if they hired a decent crop of designers this site would have layoff posts every 5 years or so but upper management is so poor and out of touch with reality that they are steering a rudderless ship.
Lame designers from Otis College are definitely part of the problem, but the biggest reason for our cr-p toys is overhead. Overpaid C-suiter & president no-talent fatcats with their multimillion dollar salaries drain the coffers. What's RD ACTUALLY DONE in 7 years here? Where are Y-Not's movies? And Mattel desperately pays premium licensing fees just to grab lame licenses ever since C-Down drove Disney away; we're a bad gamble. There is simply no money left over for the toy, so the designers are crippled and the toys $u-k. We are doomed.
Love that last comment by the hapless designer of the Jurassic Park toys. Utter & complete denial. "My toy is cool!"
There are some cool Jurassic Park toys at Target, the Trex Escape Pack in particular is cool. It comes with a Trex and one of the iconic green JP Ford Explorer.
Look who is leading the company…..why are you surprised??
