Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

You whiners just don't understand the world!

Look, here's the reality. Every company that has ever existed anywhere is trying to ki-l you. I've working for 892 companies, and every single one has forced ranking, high-percentage PIPs, and genocide. If you are looking for greener grass, just know that every CEO is part of the same evil cult that sacrifices their employees in equal percentages. Don't even try looking for another job. It is just unreasonable to think that it could be better.

Obviously, some of you have friends and relatives who claim that they are happy with the company they work for. But don't trust them. Trust me, a random person on a layoff board that says all companies are the same.

EM is famous for the cut throat corporate culture. And the brainwashing that you’re the best and work for the best but pay less, no bonus, no Fridays off. But u are the best.

OP is so right! ;-)
Just keep your heads down, do the work in silence, don’t even dare to think there’s a better place to work somewhere else, wait until it’s your turn to be PIPed, and than thank us for our wisdom.
We’ve already given you Fun Fridays, now you can even wear jeans on campus, what else can you possibly want ? Lazy, spoiled brats who have never experienced the big bad world outside EM. You should thank us on your knees.

Obviously this is a spoof of the new EM troll line of arguing: EM is not worse than the average company.

892 companies, how does that work? Have you ever worked somewhere more than a week before you got PIPed?

I worked for another Major that did not have forced ranking.

Favoritism and Sponsorship for chosen individuals did exist, but no forced ranking. One major measure of success was how much you helped your colleagues and helping each other was the culture, because there was no competition in the ranking system.

After joining EM, a colleague observed that I was helping everyone around me. He pulled me to the side and warned me that I could never move up the ranking if I continued to help my “competitors “.

In summary, other companies do not have forced ranking and it is much more pleasant to work as a team if not competing against each other.

What you're saying is true. The entire system is gaming the masses. However, either gang up to change it, or, game it back whenever you get the chance. Stop being a lamb.
