My position at AETNA was terminated due to "job elimination" in November 2016 two weeks before my 21st anniversary. AETNA would not give me credit for those two weeks when considering my severance package. AETNA was in the process of positioning itself for the HUMANA merger. Three other women in my department also had their jobs "eliminated". Coincidently, we were all over 60 years old with 20+ years service. Although my daughter was two years away from starting college, I had positioned myself financially to be able to retire and pay for her college tuition. I know how lucky I am to be able to enjoy my retirement. I do not miss Aetna. I do not miss the cr-p they serve up. I do not miss my manager who took credit for my work. I do not miss the back stabbing co-workers. I do not miss the cr---y increases and bonuses. I am getting a 5.9% increase from social security which is more than I ever saw at AETNA in 20 years and I worked in IT and finance. I love retirement and would not return to AETNA or CVS, ever. It is never a good feeling to be told you are no longer needed but there was always a dark cloud hanging over AETNA and being acquired by CVS was not going to change that. After the dust settled, I was actually relieved to no longer work at AETNA. I would encourage anyone that is unhappy at CVS to update your resume and move on. It's a job looking for another job but you won't regret it. Good Luck!

I do not mean any offense, but you're a fool if you are depending on severance. I've been to companies that offer 401k plans and you can purchase your own benefits. I have never heard of severance packages and I've worked for a ton of fortune 100 companies. I guess you are part of the old generation that believes in staying put at one place like a slave on a plantation. I've never heard of anyone staying longer than a few years at one place, no matter how much they enjoy it there. I'm giving an example here. If you are depending on a company to give you severance, then that is like depending on the government to give you adequate food stamps to last the month or an ebt card with unlimited food purchases. You have to make money in other ways to make ends meet or find extra food in other ways. Getting the extra food at a charity or buying day old bread, eating at friends and relatives houses occasionally. Unfortunately they don't teach economics in high school, at least for the past hundred years or so, so we end up with a bunch of ignorant people who stay at the same company forever, hoping they throw them some scraps.
I agree with everything you said. My manager lost his medical license for diversion of opioids. Aetna treated him as a Spiritual Leader. I never met more disgraceful people anywhere. They are disgraceful, disgusting, sub-human detritus. Keep advertising. That’s why it takes 2 years to fill a position.
Lost my job this year with Aetna/CVS.. When CVS took over the company was even worse to work for. I do not miss working there..the last 2 years with CVS sucked.
Same thing happened to me. I never looked back either, I just found a new job.
