Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Religious Exemption Temporarily Approved

Mine was temporarily approved stating "this is not a permanent accomodation." and "despite our ability to temporarily accommodate your request for a religious exemption, non-vaccination puts the safety of our workforce and our communities at risk. To decrease this risk, we intend to search for and fill our staffing needs with vaccinated individuals. Your employement is at-will, and you may be replaced at any time, with or without notice."

This company is so deep state it’s not even funny. They were so ready for this mandate thing - comms were instant! It was very sad to see people hold out on getting the jab and then submitting at the last minute as if it’s the only place on earth to work. Unreal! Who has info on class action?

The post with email was deleted I’m assuming by the moderators or website. I would suggest screenshooting anything like that. The poster said they had posted it 3 times.

Where did the post go pertaining to the created email for us to band together and seek a class action lawsuit for wrongful termination?

This company is just bullying and seeing how far they can push people. Even poopy pants is wanting to see how much he can scare people and he has not even signed anything. The company knows this but wants to push us around anyway. They have zero integrity and I’m sure operate right on the edge of fraud and legal. They pretend lawsuits don’t scare them. Let them roll in on top of hiring new staff and see where their stocks plummet to. Such id--ts run this place

I am a full time telecommuter who travels 1-2 times per year. I was included in the vaccine requirement and will be placed on leave on 11/15 (Optum requirement).

i was denied... UHC e&i - here's the full email...

We have considered your request for a religious exemption from receiving the COVID-19 vaccination. Unfortunately, we are unable to grant your request. This means you must complete and report your COVID-19 vaccination by clicking here on or before the deadline for your business. It is your responsibility to confirm with your manager the vaccination deadline for your business. Failure to report your vaccination by the deadline may result in the termination of your employment.
The COVID-19 Delta variant has changed the urgency of vaccination for everyone. The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) describes the COVID-19 Delta variant as more transmissible than the common cold and influenza. According to the CDC, almost all hospitalizations and deaths have been among the unvaccinated. Vaccination is an essential job function for your role. The non-vaccination of employees in your position and/or location puts the safety of our workforce and our patients at risk. To decrease this risk, we are actively searching for and filling our staffing needs with vaccinated individuals. Your employment is at-will, and you may be replaced at any time, with or without notice.
If you’d like to learn more about the COVID-19 vaccine, here. If you need assistance finding a vaccination location and appointment, you may use the UHC vaccine locator.
Please continue to follow all required safety protocols while in a UHG or client site, as directed by management.
Thank you.

Pure telecommuters are not required to vaccinate for UHG. Not sure of Optum. I am one and have not received anything except the status request and to watch a video. Brandon's Osha tyranny doesn't effect remote workers either. I think UHG knows everything ahead of time of what mandates were coming because their policy mirrored exactly.

@1rck+1dCl8wms and anyone else that has received excellent Manager MAP evals, go into MAP now while you still have access and save off all of those comments and ratings. This could certainly be helpful documentation in future legal proceedings.

Which company is that? One I would like to work for! UHG is stating it’s their responsibility to keep employees safe; it’s not your job to police your employees on their personal medical decisions and violate rights to bodily autonomy.

@1pzc+1dCl8wms Yes, I believe telecommuters are receiving this msg. Their justification is that anyone who will ever come onsite will need to be vaccinated. Even though I currently WAH it was explained to me that there are times where I have had to go into the office and so they consider that as needing to meet the vaccination requirement. I could be wrong but that is how it was explained to me. So much for workplace of the future. A company that my friend works at decided to just send all employees WAH 100% and downsized their office to only hold a few key people that manage servers, equipment and supplies.

Are telecommuters receiving this response? Because if you work from home you literally have zero affect on their “work force”

So HR’s rationale is to illegally discriminate and terminate unvaccinated staff; many of which receive outstanding annual reviews and put in at minimum an extra 15 hours weekly going above and beyond to meet goals just to be able to say they hired a vaccinated replacement- who could be a subpar one?

Now, layer in the fact that majority of these employees who would be replaced are telecommuters whom pose zero threat of transmission to their peers and do follow proper masking guidelines in the community (not that what I do in my community is any business of this Organization).

If anything, this type of correspondence shows UHG doesn’t follow their own fake values projected of inclusivity and compassion. Solidified this is absolutely not somewhere I am valued nor will I continue going the extra mile for daily. Way to go UHG! Your aggressive email backfired.

Wow. What an as----e move from HR. I hope they are just trying to scare people into getting vaccinated. Legally, to let you go over a religious belief they have acknowledged/ approved a “temp” accommodation for would be questionable. Even so, UHC has no ethics so I would apply elsewhere before they find a way to stop accommodating you .
