If there's anybody here who has quit, any chance you can share what the exit process is like? When you give your two weeks notice, are you expected to work for the full two weeks or do they tell you there's no need to come in? I'd just like to plan the start of my next job accordingly, if possible.

Due to the previous person being screwed, I gave a 3 week notice to my manager via phone call and email with a copy being sent to myself. I then forwarded that email to HR to prove I did give notice on time. I know they didnt read anything because 4 weeks after I was gone (this is 7 weeks from the notice) I was still getting paychecks and benefits.
I was paid but not allowed to work it which was fine with me
HR lied and said I didnt give my full two weeks, even tho I provided 3+ weeks. But they couldnt get a hold of my manager for over a month, so nobody could confirm my story. They refused to pay out my PTO, and I hadnt used a day that year. They are thieves. Cover your a-s as stated below. They even said “you can never work at Windstream again”. They are very spiteful when you leave. I laughed and told them Windstream wouldnt be in business much longer.
Cover your a s s every way possible. Otherwise they will find a to sc--w you.
Retirement sounds like a union guy. Where was your representation? Did you file a grievance? Something sounds really fishy here.
"Here is one for you. I was 3 days shy of retirement. I had 6 weeks of vacation that's 240 hours. Guess what I got. No retirement and 12 hours of vacation when I left. Now you figure out what you want to do. That's a fact."
Yeah gonna have to call BS on this one.
I call BS on the person who lost retirement…. If this happened - youre not very smart. A reasonable person would have sued and won.
it is not a prison, remember TT said that. Just walk in 1 day and say thats it, I quit.
I dont understand how you got no retirement? So windstream has the power to say no SS for you? And that is your own d-mb fault for not using those vacation days up before leaving. Use ALL your vacation and sick days you have BEFORE leaving, than you don't have to worry about not getting paid for them.

it's completely dependent on your position, down to "Joe on my team got 2 weeks, Jim got walked immediately" type of thing
My team went through some major changes decided by a VP not a manager or director. I was going to be last man standing after all of the dust settled. They gave us about 4-6 weeks to restructure the team. At the same time I was given an internal and external offer. My manager knew something was up when I turned down the internal offer and the hiring manager was disappointed. Over time things went from bad to worse and no one cared so neither did I. I took 2 of those 4 weeks off for vacation and came back to give a 3 day notice. I was also told I would not be rehired but I didn't care because WIN won't exist in the near future.
Good to know, thanks!
Fyi, you have to give the notice to hr directly. Just telling your boss dosent count. Youll get screwed out of any leave balances if you’re not careful.
Quiting without notice would probably be fine, as a DNR wouldn't mean jack squat as this company likely won't exist in this state for much longer. If you think maybe you want to leave the option to come back open them don't burn your bridges do a two weeks notice.
If your new job is chomping at the bit to get to in a hurry then I say f this place. Take care of you.
