Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Rumors about layoffs began circulating

It may be a false alarm, it is not my intention to cause panic, but I hear from more and more people that they are preparing for big layoffs. Does anyone have more info?

Everyone is expendable, the ones that bark the loudest or are just plain annoying are only second on the list. The so called knowledgeable managers that puff up and degrade many with their fast talking micromanagement skills are on the top of the list. To many complaints to HR aren’t helping you!

In the last 10 years, when haven't they been laying off?

It’s true. Need to layoff about 5k to get the numbers back in line of “being cash flow positive”. It will be half hourly and half salary to keep the manager to worker ratio at 5 managers per 1 worker.

The numbers that were discussed three weeks ago were 3000 in the gulf coast area. This is with shutting down 8 more facilities and consolidating only a few PL’s overseas. HR is being handed over to a 3rd party like IT to show the additional on paper cost savings.
