Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Lumen extends its vaccination mandate to customer facing employees.

The VP of HR came out with the mandate in an email yesterday. Also a $50 per pay period health insurance surcharge will be applied to employees who are not vaccinated.

I wonder if the surcharge will be expanded to include overweight employees? The VP of HR looks like he could loose a few pounds.

Just for the record the current Covid vaccines are all still under a EUA and none have been approved for use by the FDA.

Comiranty, although approved by the FDA, is NOT available anywhere and it's probably not in production. As the previous poster said it's legally distinct from the Pfizer vaccine released under the EUA that is available.

That makes sense, only those looking for a free handout with a frivolous or fraud lawsuit would use this as a reason now.

Exactly. From what I've read, Pfizer can be sued for any adverse reactions to Comiranty, but the original under the EUA, they are not liable. So yeah, good luck finding Comiranty in the US.

One thing I'm not seeing mentioned in any of these posts is Biden 's exec order requiring employees of federal contractors to be vaccinated by Oct. 15. I'm sure that played into a decision for a mandate, though I can't speak to the insurance cost piece.

For the record the FDA published this over a month ago: Today, the U.S. Food and Dr-g Administration approved the first COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been known as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, and will now be marketed as Comirnaty (koe-mir’-na-tee) … stop spreading lies ppl<<<

Try finding Comirnaty at a pharmacy or clinic. Legally it is distinct from the Pfizer vaccine released under the EUA that is available. Stop spreading your own lies.

I’ve worked for companies that had similar offsets for weight, smoking, drinking, dr-g use, etc. The group insurance plans can’t work if paying for all the covid cases, long term hospital stays, and life long health effects of covid-19 exposure. You are a liability and they will happily hold the door open for you. Good luck finding another company that will welcome you unvaccinated soon. I’m actually happy about all the opportunities you hold outs are making for us. It’s gonna suck for you guys when you get the vid and have to pay out of pocket.

I’ll be going on my wife’s insurance next year, I’m not paying $50 a check or getting the poke.

Regardless, the dysfunction in
the daily process over the last 24+ months from sitting on hold with call centers for hours a day, to sending orders back due the best in world beimg unable to break left ins, has paid extremely well to easily offset $50 a pay period, and also has funded multiple vacations :)
