Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Workplace “flexibility”

Has anyone heard or know how “flexible” the new flexible work arrangements will be? I noticed in their announcement that it’s very vague as to who exactly will be able to benefit from the FT remote opportunity. Management claims to not have any information and no timeline as to when they’ll have information. I don’t understand why this was announced when managers aren’t able to or won’t provide details. I’m sensing that there will be a lot of hoops to jump through to be eligible for FT remote.

Between pushing the vaccine on people and now being wishy washy about remote opportunities they are going to loose half of their employees... Watch...

We were told that after integration all WC employees who were remote before pandemic will remain remote permanently. No word on legacy Centene staff who work on teams with WC employees. Seems unfair if they force us back to the office while our team mates get to wfh.

My team will likely be working from home as there's no business reason for us to be in an office environment, but it sounds like flexible schedules such as 4 day 10 hours won't be available.

I’m a supervisor and when I discussed FT WFH topic with my manager, I was told
it’s not FT it’s hybrid. I didn’t argue with my manger since they always thinks they are right even though the email states in black and white FT remote is an option. I can see I’m going to have an issue with my team letting them know they can only work hybrid. Plus, my manger is anti-wfh, I don’t see it being approved for FT wfh. I don’t have a problem with my team wfh FT since we’ve been doing it for nearly 2 yrs without any issues. It will be interesting to see how these conversations will play out whenever the time comes.

My production and QA are excellent as is my attendance but I will NEVER return to the office. There are so many open jobs that Centene which cannot be filled so I am sure I can find a position elsewhere.

My leadership team stated FT remote would be based off of performance and accuracy, per VP. I spoke to someone else and their leadership stated they were voting for them all to all WFH. So, I agree with someone else that stated below it’s up to your people leaders. I wish we could just stay home. I’m
not ready for the commute and packed offices..

They are only offering this because they have to in order to stay even remotely competitive as an employee. It’s not because they’ve had a change of heart and suddenly see things differently.

The way it’s written - everyone, in every role, has the opportunity to have flexible work arrangements. HR is NOT making the decisions. Your leaders are. So if you have lesss flexibility - your bosses are to blame.

For me, I’ll never go back to the office. If my leader doesn’t agree, thats ok and it’s their decision. My decision is to leave.

Centene is not and never will be a full time WFH company as long as MFN is in charge or someone who is like minded. Yes, they will lose folks when they make everyone go back to cubicle land, but there are only so many other health insurance companies to apply to that are hiring / hiring at decent wages. Some of the WFH I've found is only if you are located in a specific State or near a specific city. If I was concerned, I'd be looking now, not when everyone figures out they were blowing smoke about WFH.

I'm a manager and I don't even know what their plan is. My manager, director and above don't know either. We were promised ft wfh and now it's up in the air.
I'm not forcing my team to go to the office. I don't care where they work as long as the work gets done. If the company forces us back we're going to lose a lot of great people.

I agree, and that was my initial thought. They gave us just enough hope to maybe hold on to see what they’ll actually end up doing, but I think they’ll make it very difficult to be FT remote. They know if they announce their true intentions that a lot of people will leave.

They probably have no idea what they’re doing and are just afraid people (the ones they don’t want to) are going to quit in droves…
