Recall of the Week v 2.0

Here is another proud moment for our Ford team. Changing the cadence to more that one recall per week. Tragically sad. All of the recalls will have to have an impact on financial performance. How will we fund our EV/battery/non-union production with hemorrhaging warranty costs:

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2020-2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models due to a defective rear camera issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the 360-degree camera video outputs may fail, causing the vehicle’s infotainment screen to turn blue. The problem stems from an unused general-purpose output pin on the digital camera that was left open, which makes it susceptible to water damage. Restarting the vehicle may temporarily fix the problem.

The hazards: video output failure can lead to a non-functional rear-view camera, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: digital camera output pin.

Affected vehicles: select Ford Explorer models built between October 19th, 2018, and September 5th, 2021, September 14th, 2020, through September 7th, 2021, and September 9th, 2019, through September 8th, 2021, as well as select Lincoln Aviator models produced between October 19th, 2018, and September 2nd, 2021, September 14th, 2020, through August 25th, 2021, and September 7th, 2019, through September 8th, 2021.

Number of vehicles affected: 228,000 vehicles.

The fix: dealers will update the image processing module software.

It is a stoopid one, but hardly big safety recall issue. My big old 1990s suv dont have a backup camera and I havent run over any kids yet in reverse.

But todays modern suv drivers, well, I suppose

Quality matters. From Ford Authority.

Predicting F-150 falls from the top position and all kinds of bad things follow.

In the United States, Ford F-Series deliveries totaled 158,235 units in Q2 2021, a decrease of about 12 percent compared to 180,825 units sold in Q2 2020
