Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Career path recommendations

So currently I'm in RMBC, but don't see a good career path. I want to make as much money as possible so I'm thinking maybe go to claims. I can get experience and maybe to to another company as it looks like if you are advanced jobs pay close to $100,000. Does anyone work in claims and if so what is it like? Also, does anyone have any recommendations for maybe a department at allstate I missed that has a good career path. My background is ASIC (customer service) for a few years and now rmbc

Just give up, sounds like you only have skills that are easily automated.

Do NOT go to claims with Allstate. You will hate your job even more than you do now. The morale is horrible, the training is horrendous. I would suggest getting out of Allstate. But if you want to stay, try looking into the Agency Support Team.

You might try commercial underwriting with a smaller carrier. Many of them can make upwards of 100k with enough experience. The RMBC doesn’t give you much flexibility and that is reflected in the pay. Sales positions will always make the most in insurance companies because they are the profit center.

I put in almost 5 years in the rmbc with stagnant raises, not feeling appreciated, and overall just not happy anymore..
a part of leaving that was difficult was the fact that I had close friends I chatted with daily and I did like my manager..

But I am much happier where I am at. I lied about where I was going and am now at progressive. I definitely don’t make 100k though, but it’s more money than I was making at Allstate after several years with expected ratings and in doing a different role than underwriting.

I’d suggest either getting out of insurance, or moving companies if you want to make more.

The higher profile jobs that I see usually want management experience or are the IT roles. There is definitely money in IT, and I don’t mean ATSC.. I mean like IT degrees where you can be an engineer or something. Those are high paying anywhere though, and Allstate just had a toxic work environment in my opinion.

Good luck!
