Some of these fresh managers are getting a free check all they do is sit in the office or they leave the club for hours and comes back at the end of there shift.

It is the company expectation that managers are to “do less”. Team leads LEAD the departments, while managers MANAGE the BUSINESS. I’m an FAM, I spend a good amount of time in the office checking & replying to emails, verifying layouts, holiday & event planning, making sure schedules are done and efficient, payroll, attendance, hiring (huge time consumer), looking over resources on the wire so I’m up to date and knowledgeable for the many questions I get from my associates daily. I also spend a lot of time at work on my phone/iPad looking over all of our apps/tools looking over finances/budgets of not only my areas but the entire club. We get surprise visits from corporate, if we can’t speak to our business we are let go. It doesn’t matter how much physical work I can do along side my associates and leads, if I can’t prove that I know my business and run it successfully, I have no sense in this role. Your managers are not glorified-do it all’s in the club. Yes, unfortunately the bad managers slip through the cracks of the ones who bust their a-s, but the last thing the company needs to do is eliminate a fresh manager. The other FAM in my building pulls so much weight I couldn’t imagine doing it without him. We make a great team and work hard and our associates see that and they do the same.
Why not go after being a fresh manager then? I’m a FTM and you’re right we have wonderful TLs…however they have their job description and I have mine
Exact opposite at my club, fresh team lead does nothing, manager always goes above and beyond,
Not sure why they are needed when the teamleads do all the work to be honest
