Full Automation?

In a meeting it was mentioned going full automation in 2 months, what does that mean in terms of Layoffs? Thoughts?

For those saying this will impact clinical, are you referring to medical or behavioral?

I’m in claims and the macrobot is JUNK! They will always need processors to FIX the hundreds/thousands of claims the macrobot either cannot process (quantity) or that processes incorrectly! My horrible department heads have always threatened us with the “bot”. Someday in the future full automation but, not now at least in claims! They’re to busy right now wanting everyone to take the needle!!!!

Goal of automation is to take the redundant work off someone’s plate so people can work on something more challenging. When used as a tool to reduce cost by laying people off, so the 1% can get richer then … not sure when people will finally have enough of this and do something about.

That something doesn’t need to be a job. Goal of technology is to make our lives easier. Do we need to work to make a living if the work is now done by machines? New paradigm is needed if this continues or a revolution is afoot.

They are automating Clinical over in Optum. The system goes live September 1, so once they work out the bugs they will start cutting the staff. This company has a toxic culture.

It could be automation in the lab (RPA applications), ordering supplies, ordering process within the EHR, scheduling, staffing, billing, per-authorizations ...etc. Using machine learning to predict human behavior based on historical data and assist with clinical activities. So you see where possible areas of impact may be.

Clinical, administrative, support, IT, which areas? Full automation could mean different things in different areas.
