When they NSI those who can't be replaced, this means supervisors are eliminating the competition. The management cares and is essentially begging people to stay but the supervisors are doing nothing but playing games.

Think real hard how you are impacted by this. There will be more work. You want to make sure you are working the most important efforts. Everything else doesn’t matter.
It’s the worst ever!
Getting your first promotion into management is like getting elected to Congress. You go in with good intentions and honesty, only to become jaded by the system, which turns you into a viper if you want to retain the position. Your initial goodness doesn't rub off on them, but their treachery will spread onto you faster than a drop of ink in a glass of clear water.
To come up with a seriatim, the supervisors and managers spend days debating individuals' personalities and behavior skills at the assessment meetings that are highly subjective and have little to do with performance and contribution. This is what they call ExxonMobil framework and relative performance.
"Can't be replaced" typical boomer EM mentality. Get over yourself. You aren't that special
Why do we have a thread here that shows surprise on how supervisors are behaving?
Do you not know the criteria (for more than a decade) to become a supervisor? You have to be a psychopath and a brain dead human of the highest kind to do this kind of role.
The management says one thing but the supervisors do the opposite. How do they expect the morale to improve?
@lao Definitely hyperbole. There are a lot worse out there. This coming from someone who is very critical of EM. There’s certainly a lot of room for improvement and a dire need to change at the top. We fell from decidedly #1 to middle of the pack.
ExxonMobil is the worst and most corrupted company in the world.
Why would anyone ever take the PIP? I cannot think of anything that would motivate me to willingly go through that much annoyance and humiliation. Keeping the nest egg large so my decision is clear.
What would motivate a manager to ever encourage their employees to take the PIP? If they wanted me to stay, than they shouldn’t have PIPed me.
It’s so corrupt that NSI is dependent on how much your manager likes you
Sadly true. I work at a manufacturing site of the chemical company, my management wants all NSI's to take the PIP but the supervisors are setting unrealistic goals and making the PIP process very difficult to pass.
? What are you even talking about. Supervisors are the lowest tier management. They have no say if mid management has anything to do with anything
As for supervisors, I've seen many demoted to lead position because they have no one left
