Thread regarding Ford layoffs

You work at Ford, but you don't drive a Ford?

The irony is that there are employees who have been working at Ford for years but never drove a Ford vehicle. I recently bought a new car and didn’t even consider buying a Ford. It's a matter of principle - I’m outraged at how this company treats people and because I know how little valued those who actually make those vehicles are. Employees don’t need a false sense of “we’re one big family,” but a little respect and appreciation.

Slight correction: we work with the best suppliers for their design capability and technology. We then share that with suppliers in ultra low cost countries and resource the business. Never forget that every Ford is built from the lowest cost components found around the world. Part of HTT’s legacy.

From the customers view, it shows. No other car company has to offer incentives to sell in a constricted market other than Ford.

Shameful.

I never understood this logic. If you are a professor at HFCC, is it a betrayal that you/or your Children go to UofM??? No, because you want the best (within your capability). Therefore why is it a betrayal that you drive a non-Ford. If you think another car/brand is better you should be able to buy/drive it. This also will require Ford to keep improving their quality vs the competitors.

We do the same thing with suppliers, we try to work with the best supplier possible when it comes to buying parts.

Sad truth is that the current employees only drive a Ford if they get some type of mgt lease deal. All these kids they hired only want the cheapest used they can find regardless of brand because they don't even want a vehicle. Then non mgt avoid Ford products because they know they are garbage. So, the only ones singing Ford's praise are upper mgt that get special lease and service. Sales volume does not lie. PLUS, before the pandemic- most of the parking lots were filled with competitor's products. At least COVID is hiding that.

what kind of spooked me was that the internal water pump on the ecoboost v6 (google it) that, if the seals fail, causes the engine to grind itself up if you don't notice it (e.g. coolant leaks into the oil not out of the motor). they probably had to shoehorn that motor into some of those vehicles and make it small as possible, so i get it, but it is a rough compromise. a nice side note is that the truck versions of these seem to have an external version of the pump (more room under the hood?) so f150 is all right, thankfully.

I drove used BMWs and Porsches 20 years ago because I liked them. When I would take the BMW in for an oil service and mention that I was a Ford engineer - they would always say how many Ford management bought BMWs for their wives and drove their Ford lease cars for work only.

This has been going on for years.

8 months ago I Rretired after 25+ years and didn’t buy a Ford - the reliability and quality are simply not comparible to other vehicle manufacturers. Learned after 33 years of driving ONLY Ford products that,
a) Nissan sucks right now
b) VW is a totally stiffer ride,
c) Kia, Hyundai are doing amazing relative to value.

It’s all about quality, reliability and resale value —- it’s now MY money. I worked hard for it, made many sacrifices to earn it and the company (FMC) treated me like a piece of furniture- In turn, I will treat it accordingly.

Ford taught me to do my research and provided a great automotive “education”. I in turn did my best for 25 years to put in time, experience and expertise …. Unfortunately ended at a point that no one would listen any longer, or fight to figure out solutions requiring teamwork and collaborative work. I simply gave up. It was mutual.

The treatment of employees is the question here. Many in the past supported buy purchasing multiple vehicles not only for themselves but would give out a A Plan Pin # for family. Since the 07 calendar year the packages for voluntaries have gone down. Not trying to sound spoiled or entitled. But if I was in my mid 50s back in 07 and had the time in the company I would have taken the 07 package. Leave happy and continue to buy the products. But now the people left from the purge in the late 2000s are hard workers. I am talking the GSR and some LL6 level people.
Most of us go in and do more than we are asked to do. So if HR or Jim or Even Bill are reading. Offer decent packages you will get the numbers you want. People leave happy not pi---d off.

If and when Ford is loyal to their employees, then I'll be loyal to them. It won't happen anytime soon, so.....

@1clk+1cpO7xpq "If have so much outrage then why don't you just quit ?"

Why quit when the company plan seems to get rid of all NA personal, and outsourcing to other countries? Sit back and relax, your time (to say goodbye) is coming. Even better, work your @ss off, get a promotion or raise, and you'll go out the door in no time.

The people that generally is in this website to complain, do it for 2 reasons:

  • These employees care about their job, their company.

*There are no managers around listening (or acting) in the company's best interest.

I worked in several companies before, and all of them have problems. Most of the time, large enterprises share similar problems because they tend to copy the management models. The current NA employee is like the prairie dog, has to be always alert for predators and changes.

Thanks

To 07xpq: Principles drive where customers spend money. If the company's principles don't include safety and reliability, customers will buy from auto manufacturers that do. C'mon man, get with the program.

I wouldn’t have anyone I care about ever drive a Ford. Recall kings building vehicles with the cheapest components found around the world. The overpriced F-150’s sales are in a tailspin. Shameful performance from leadership, engineering, quality, and assembly. Ford=NEVER
