It is clear what is poisoning this company and why it is sinking, and yet, there is no interest in acting against this poison. I can't understand that at all.
What's the logic here, would they rather let everything be ruined?

Elliot needs to polish the Frontier tu-d a bit more before they can cut each company into 2 maybe 3 pieces and then merger those pieces into new companies...kind of like CenturyLink did
Elliott Management are the new owners. History dictates they polish the tu-d, than sell it. So yes, a Merger is coming. But maybe the polishing is not finished as of yet.
Can anyone confirm anything about a merger? That would be a logical move but when does logic motivate anyone anymore?

To fire TT means paying out that parachute, and we just don't have the money for that. Like a divorce, sometimes it cheaper to keep her.
