Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

How does going to a smaller bank affect resumes?

Someone mentioned that they recommend going to a smaller bank, where there is a lot less stress. I was thinking about that too. However, I used to work in a much smaller bank. I took the job at Chase very seriously because I considered it a great career advancement. So I'm still debating, would moving back to a smaller bank look bad on a resume?

I left for a credit union. My skills and experience are considered highly “desirable”, and my work ethic/reputation has gotten attention.

Hopefully this will allow me to advance, something I couldn’t do at Chase - where I was just another number.

Many times you will gain more career boosting skills at a smaller bank. In a large bank, you are pigeon holed into one line of business responsible for your particular "cog", whereas at a smaller bank, you will most likely wear multiple hats and get to experience a different side of Banking that will result in building more skills!

Just keep this in mind: If JP is so perfect, why people come and go in this firm? Not in in terms of lay-off but they chose to leave.
