I saw this post and clicked on the link to see the jobs. I was pretty pi---d, and wanted to comment so bad.

Not sure if we still do it but several years ago we used to post jobs we had no intention of hiring just to give a positive public facing impression.

Yes, we are hiring, with the intent of the fresh blood ending up NSI next year. This is our brilliant way of saving ourselves from being let go. Any volunteers out there, willing to be the sacrificial lamb next year please?

There are a ton of openings because anyone the least bit employable is bailing out of this shothole and if anyone outside is paying attention they will delete these job posting notices with the swiftness.

Our job is to produce Oil and to a lesser extent, gas. Refine it and sell it. Most of these posts seem to be for bit producers which achieve little, if anything towards the company’s bottom line.
Don’t stay or come here, please.

17 years in…….I wouldn’t say its a “ton” but it is a shift from the on campus hiring process. With the attrition rates so high, they have to look externally for experienced hires (esp in IT). I also read through the postings….the jobs are way oversold. It’s borderline immoral the way some of the IT jobs are posted…the applicants will be very surprised to see how slow IT moves and how accident the tech is…..I’m a little surprised these roles weren’t awarded to contractors first….I think that’s the symptom of being too aggressive with the MSP strategy….there is no one left and no one wants to stand up and ask for contractors when “the MSP can do it”

I saw a connection on LinkedIn post an opening for a technical role on his team, and the dude who was laid off from the role only months earlier facetiously asked if he should re-apply for his old job. Both sad and hilarious at the same time. The person who posted the role responded with something lame like "I don't see why not...". Total a--hat.

To those who are still contemplating on joining XOM, be forewarned, it's a very toxic environment, it's not worth it. It will be like selling your soul for 30 pieces of silver.

I know in EMIT they experienced far more voluntary resignations than they expected, so they’re scrambling for “technical talent” - candidates be warned, experienced hires are often the first to go at the next downturn, right after contractors.

@OP Most of those postings have been up for some time. I don’t see much that’s new. They seem to be looking for people in IT with knowledge of certain legacy systems.

A lot of the postings I saw were for Huizhou (CN), which is interesting if you consider who XOM donates to and who they lobby.
