I’m not going to say which department I am but they recently decided to give us a raise so everyone will be at the same starting pay . It does not matter if you have been there 5 years or 10 years we will start at the same rate . IS THIS REALLY RIGHT OR FAIR ?? So I will be giving my two weeks soon

The company has done this for atleast 10 years. There are cashiers with maybe a year in making almost as much as someone that's been with the company for 15 years.
Ive been there four years and still eleven. The new guy transferred over and is getting fifteen and hasn’t been there six months only shows half the time. They won’t let me transfer out cause they don’t want to fill the spot with someone making fifteen and have to give me fifteen.
I also will give my two weeks this month because of this reason -
I quit after 20 years. Found another job within a month and I am extremely happy. Sam's would throw you a bone every once in a while and take away 3. Medical benefits are awful unless you need a heart or lung transplant. I always said "I was looking for a job when I found this one"
To the id--tic "stop wallet watching and worry about yourself" comment. I believe they are worried about themselves. That is why they made the comment. They ARE watching their wallet and concerned. Smh. God people with so many opinions and so little braincells to rub together to make an ounce of common sense. That is what is wrong with the world. Complete and utter void of common sense in the majority of the population.
It happened with me this week my reason that I’m giving my two weeks soon and interviewing starting next week
For goodness sake. The raise in pay is not do you current employees will get paid equally.
The raise in pay is to be competitive in the job market because the service industry is desperate for workers and the retention rate is excruciatingly low.
If you want to quit, quit. But don't blame it on how much other people are getting paid. Stop wallet watching and worry about yourself.
Sams/Walmart hasn't played fair for over 10 years! Before then (like 17 previous years), they gave merit raises and after checking the pay at similar jobs, they raised the pay for some. This more recent 2% raise for everyone that isn't capped, is BS. Everything is going up under the current administration. Forget the lousy incentives and just be decent employers instead of being so greedy. Of course if one is working, they need a paycheck! But there are far better employers out there! Like any relationship, we get comfy and fear change. Don't!
It’s just salary compression.
They will pay as little as they can get away with and without breaking the law. They see you as replaceable. The fact that you are still there after this slap in the face meant they got away with it. You need to expand your skills and move on. Don't take it personally, that's just how they are. They see all those positions as replaceable.
Talked to a my club manager about a situation with a associate moving to my area & making more & only been there for 4 years maybe. I have been there over 15 years…..told my hands are tied…..!!??? RIDICULOUS!!!
mr 28,58 .. what state are you in ? geography can make a big difference also ?
MSS
To the person that makes $28.58, are you a meat cutter, or are you one of the ones that got a raise and an incentive bonus every year? Regardless, the bonuses were given to favored associates, friends of management usually, instead of management giving them to those that deserved one. And meat cutters don't cut meat anymore, the have a machine for that.
I started at $6.00 an hour. Six years later I was at $9.10 and they bumped the starting pay to $9.00. Those who were already there and made under $9.00 got bumped to $9.00. Those who were already at $9.00 or above got absolutely nothing. That’s just how it is. I was told to accept it or find another place of employment. I stayed. Now I’m at $28.58
Been here eight, and I know how you feel. They do this all the time. You know that. Frankly, I think your response - putting in your two weeks notice - is a little dramatic, because your leaving won't change anything and don't you need this paycheck?
Been with Sam's almost 28 years and no it isn't right to see someone just starting out making close to what I make now. I know more, I do more and I actually care about my job. Most long timers will be leaving the company in a few years so why can't we get a higher rate of pay for that small amount of time? We stayed with the company all those years, through every change the higher ups decided was best. Home office should compensate our loyalty, our hard work and time, we deserve it.
uumm... try being here 30 years...
