Judging by what is happening in the company, I would say that the goal of those at the top is to destroy this company.
It's hard to believe, but everything they do results very unfavorably for this company.
It is even harder to believe that they are making such bad moves with the intention of saving this company.

From 37 years experience in telecom and going through many buys and sells it evident they are on a path of destruction. Storey will continue to stuff his pockets and move on just before we bite the dirt. The carnage of his destruction will only affect the lower employees who are keeping this dump running to this point.
Add in Qwest was a house of cards that folded when daylight hit it and would have collapsed entirely without USW, which itself was ra--d to build MediaOne.
CenturyTel was a pyramid scheme, constantly buying new companies to hide their inability to run or organically grow the company. It started under Clarke Williams and continued under his protege Post. Post and his gang mistook their "success" in protected mostly rural markets for telecom genius which fell apart after buying Embarq and Qwest.
Level 3, like CenturyTel, bought companies to hide the failures in their core business but even more than CenturyTel was ruthless in cost cutting and dismembering their acquisitions. Brutal. Storey is no Bellhead or phone guy, he's a used car salesman with his phony smile while lying the whole time. He just sold the board a better story than Post and they bought it.
Not destroy, break up and sell all the pieces. Qwest bought US West for the cash flow thinking fiber was the future but it became a commodity. Centurylink bought Qwest thinking scale would help but was run by Post and POTS people who made one bad decision after another. L3 merger was to bring in a telecom guy, storey, to see if the company could be saved. The answer was “no”. The pieces are worth more then the whole and storey will sell it all.
